Khadaan (2024) Upcoming Bengali Movie: Dev's come back to the commercial films

On the grand occasion of New Year's Day, January 1, 2024, Superstar Dev unveiled the announcement teaser for his upcoming film, Khadaan which has been scheduled to be released in 2024. Sujit Riino Dutta, the director of "City of Jackals," will helm this film.

The film will be a joint production by Dev Adhikari and Nispal Singh, under their banners Dev Entertainment Ventures and Surinder Films, marking the maiden collaboration between these two production houses.

Dev expressed, "One of the most experimental films of today's time… Chalo let’s see ki hoy" (Let's see what happens). The 40-second announcement teaser features Dev in a mass avatar, holding an axe, accompanied by the punchline, "Family niye byasto achi boley ki vebechis action ta vule gechi? Otai amar kaaj" (People say I've forgotten action after getting involved with family? That's my job).

Although there hasn't been any official confirmation regarding the female lead, reports suggest that Idhika Paul from Priyotoma and Soumitrisha Kundu from Pradhan are reportedly the strongest contenders for the female leads in Khadaan.

As per Soojit Dutta's tweet, Idhika Paul is the female lead of this film.

In this film, Dev will portray a coal mafia character, generating immense excitement among fans as he returns to his old avatar in mass action films. Dev's recent film, Pradhan, which clashed with Mithun Chakraborty's Kabuliwala, is currently running successfully in theaters.

There seems to be a shift in the trend of Bengali films, with a gradual return to more commercial content that had declined in the past few years. While Jeet consistently delivered action films like Raavan, Chengiz, and Manush: Child of Destiny, other actors like Ankush with his upcoming action thriller Mirza and Vikram Chatterjee with Pariah are contributing to this resurgence.

Now, Dev is making his comeback to the commercial zone, adding to the excitement among Bengali moviegoers. Jisshu Sengupta was onboarded for Sujit Riino Dutta’s upcoming action thriller.
