Hoichoi's Sampurna Web Series Review: Story, Performance & Analysis

The storyline of this series revolves around the Sanyal family, which consists of Sampurna (Sohini Sarkar), her husband Piku (Prantik Chatterjee), her father-in-law (Rajat Ganguly), mother-in-law (Laboni Sarkar), and brother-in-law, Raktim, also known as Ruku (Anubhav Kanjilal).

A new member is set to join this family as Ruku is preparing to marry Nandini (Rajnandini Paul). However, just when it seemed like the marriage might be called off, Sampurna took it upon herself to convince her mother-in-law, and she succeeded.

The name "Sampurna," which means "complete," suits her perfectly because she excels in every aspect of her life. Whether it's taking care of her in-laws or maintaining strong relationships with her husband and brother-in-law, she handles everything with almost flawless precision.

After their marriage, Nandini discovered Ruku's darker side on their first night together. Her behavior caught Sampurna's attention, and she persistently probed Nandini to reveal the truth. Nandini confided that Ruku became violent during intimate moments, disregarding her desires and forcing himself upon her.

Upon learning the truth, She informed her husband Piku and requested him to talk to his brother Ruku, but he ignored her plea. She even confided in her in-laws, but none were willing to believe her.

Nandini lived in constant fear of Ruku, to the extent that she had to hide during their honeymoon to escape his aggression. This pattern continued, and she eventually suffered a severe accident during one particularly unbearable night.

This prompted Sampurna to take action and inform the police about the entire situation. Will she succeed in saving Nandini from the monstrous Ruku? Will Ruku receive the punishment he deserves? All these questions will be answered by watching this series on Hoichoi.

Sohini Sarkar has beautifully portrayed the character of Sampurna. Like any other middle-class housewife, she was fighting a lone battle and she was well aware of the consequences. She gets support from her friend who helps married women who are the victims of domestic violence to become independent. Sohini Sarkar continued to win the hearts of audiences prior to this series from Mandaar then Srikanto.

Rajnandini Paul was also mind-blowing throughout the series. Her innocence and helplessness as a newly married woman were praiseworthy. Her expressions and dialogue delivery especially in emotional scenes were very impressive.

Anubhav Kanjilal as Ruku had two shades in his character. One is his innocent and good boy image to his family and the other one is monstrous in front of Nandini and he played the character quite well. Prantik Banerjee, Laboni Sarkar, and Rajat Ganguly also provided ably support with their respective characters.

Yes, the story of this series was quite predictable but director Sayantan Ghosal deserves full credit for the brilliant execution. This is one of his best works in recent times after the web series Indu starring Ishaa Saha.

The climax was good as it sent a strong message to society about raising a voice against domestic violence. The music & background score in this series by Amit-Ishaan deserves special mention.

Final Words:

Sampurna is a must-watch gripping family drama that stands out due to power-packed performances, music, and direction.
