Shastri (2024) Bengali Movie: Soham Chakraborty & Mithun Chakraborty are reuniting after 12 years

Megastar Mithun Chakraborty is currently at the pinnacle of his career, following the success of two consecutive Bengali films in the last two years—Projapoti in 2022 and Kabuliwala in 2023. The veteran actor is all set for his upcoming project, Shastri, directed by Pathikrit Basu.

Shastri, based on Debaroti Mukhopadhyay’s story, is a collaborative production between Soham's Entertainment and Creative Solutions Pvt Ltd. The screenplay and dialogues are skillfully crafted by Arnab Bhaumik and Aritra Banerjee. The narrative delves into the intriguing theme of astrology versus science, promising a unique cinematic experience. Filming for this venture is scheduled to commence in January 2024, featuring pivotal roles played by Soham Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta, and Kharaj Mukherjee.

Actress Debashree Roy will share the screen with Mithun Chakraborty, reuniting a superhit pair after 14 years since their last collaboration in Gaurabh Pandey’s 2010 film, "Shukno Lanka." Their previous successful collaborations include blockbuster Bengali films such as Arvinda Mukhopadhyay's "Nadi Theke Sagare," Rabi Kinagi's "Yuddho," Anup Sengupta’s "Mahaguru," Prasanta Bal’s "Ferrari Fauji," Gaurabh Pandey’s "Shukno Lanka," Gautam Mukherjee’s "Troyee," and Swapan Saha’s "MLA Fatakeshto," "Abhimanyu," and "Tiger."

In 2023, Soham Chakraborty had a notable year with his presence in the superhit film Pradhan. the decently received LSD: Laal Suitcase Ta Dekhechen?, and other projects like Nikhonj - The Search Begins, Angshuman MBA, and Jai Kali Kalkattawali.

On October 16, 2023, Soham Chakraborty shared the motion poster of Shastri with the caption, “Laagbe na chhok, Angule uthbe na angti, Bodle den bhagyo uni, 100% guarantee.” It's worth noting that Soham Chakraborty and Mithun Chakraborty had previously collaborated in Raja Chanda’s Le Halua Le" in 2012.

Debashree Roy is set to make her debut in the OTT space with Chemistry Mashi. Pathikrit Basu’s previous directorial venture, Kacher Manush, starring Dev, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Ishaa Saha, received a positive response from audiences.

Dev-Srijit Mukherji's Tekka, & Anik Dutta-Abir Chatterjee's Joto Kando Kolkatatei will be also competing with Shastri in Durga Puja 2024.
