LSD (Laal Suitcase Ta Dekhechen?) (2023) Review: Story & Performances

Sayantan Ghosal directorial dark comedy thriller LSD (Laal Suitcase Ta Dekhechen?) was released in theatres on 10th February 2023.

Rupsa (Saayoni Ghosh) and Amartya Sen Aka Amar (Soham Chakraborty) are seen taking LSD drug. They got into trouble at the drug dealer’s place and had to run away from there. They took a cab but the cab driver (Kanchan Mallick) wasn’t ready for the trip. Considering their urgency the driver agreed and soon after consuming the drug, they started hallucinating.

After a heated conversation with the driver to save Rupsa from him Amar hit the driver. They had a red suitcase with them which got missing while they were trying to escape. Will they be able to find the red suitcase? What was inside the red suitcase?

You will like the scenes of Saayoni Ghosh when showing her bravery she is taking the lead against the drug dealers and the cab driver. Soham Chakraborty looks okay in college scenes.

Director Sayantan Ghosal went for non-linear storytelling for this black comedy thriller. The comedy works in parts and the reason most of the parts didn’t work is the way the characters of Soham Chakraborty & Saayoni Ghosh were presented. Their dialogue deliveries and expressions almost never looked okay in comic scenes. The background score and the editing were okay.

The chemistry between Rupsa and Amar didn’t work due to a lack of focus on its development. The performances of Abhijit Guha, Kanchan Mallick, and Laboni Sarkar were over-the-top.

Sayantan Ghosal directorial dark comedy thriller LSD (Laal Suitcase Ta Dekhechen?) looks good in parts and due to the storytelling but the execution could have been far better. The message at the end to spread awareness against the consumption of drugs was good.
