On 19th April 2024, SVF Entertainment confirmed the release date of the upcoming film Athhoi. The film, starring Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, and Arna Mukhopadhyay, marks the directorial debut of Arna Mukhopadhyay.
Ditipriya Roy, Arpan Ghosal, Koushik Banerjee, Mimi Dutta, and Sumit Panja will be seen in supporting roles in this film, which has been jointly produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment.
The film is based on William Shakespeare's "Othello" and will hit theaters on 14th June 2024, just one week after the release of Jeet's Boomerang and Prosenjit Chatterjee-Rituparna Sengupta's Ajogya.
The 1-and-a-half-minute announcement video confirmed that Sohini Sarkar will portray the character of Diyamona, the equivalent of Desdemona from "Othello". She says, "Othello was written around 1603, more than 420 years ago."
Arna Mukhopadhyay will portray the titular role in this film. He says, "Love and values are easily destroyed by suspicion, envy, and hatred. These underlying themes are still relevant today. We have been winning hearts for the last 7 years on stage."
Anirban Bhattacharya will portray the character of Gogo, the equivalent of Iago from the play. Anirban Bhattacharya's directorial debut, Mandaar, was based on William Shakespeare's "Macbeth", and we saw both Anirban Bhattacharya and Sohini Sarkar delivering top-notch performances in that web series. So, expectations are quite high this time as well.
Ditipriya Roy and Arpan Ghosal are the other two talented actors in this film. Ditipriya Roy is known for delivering outstanding performances in Dakghor, Rajneeti Season 1, and she will also be featured in Abar Rajneeti. Arpan Ghosal is known for his performances in Antormahal, Raja Rani Romeo, and Hostel Days, and he will also be featured in Basanta Ese Gyachhe.
Arna Mukhopadhyay was last seen in Sedin Kuyasha Chilo and will be featured in "Saralakkha Holmes" and "Annapurna". Anirban Bhattacharya was last seen in "Dawshom Awbotaar" and will be featured in Soukarya Ghosal's "Pokkhirajer Dim". Sohini Sarkar was last seen in "Kabuliwala" and she will also be featured in "Omorshongi" and "Kabaddi Kabaddi".
The screenplay and dialogues of "Athhoi" have been written by Arna Mukhopadhyay and the Creative Director is Anirban Bhattacharya. Soumik Haldar (Isc) is handling the cinematography, Sanglap Bhowmik is editing the film, Amit Chatterjee will compose the music, and Subhadeep Guha is responsible for the background score.
On 20th April 2024, SVF Entertainment unveiled the official poster of this film featuring Arna Mukhopadhyay with a beard, Anirban Bhattacharya clean-shaven, and Sohini Sarkar in a serious mood in the poster.
