Preme Pora Baron (2024) Bengali Web Series Review:

Arijeet Toton Chakraborty's directorial romantic drama Preme Pora Baron, starring Anindya Sengupta and Debchandrima Singha Roy, premiered on Addatimes on February 14th, 2024. The story revolves around Rono (Anindya Sengupta), who is challenged by his friend Bappa (Subha Chattopadhyay) to kiss Sima Boudi (Ananya Biswas), the wife of the dance teacher Nirmal Sir (Subimal Dutta).

However, when Bappa removes the fuse, Rono accidentally kisses Mitul (Debchandrima). As Rono couldn't see her face clearly, Mitul, though afraid, recognized him in subsequent encounters. She is engaged to Tirtha (Somtirtha) and is hesitant to have a conversation with Rono, who is violent, rude and has fallen for her. Will Mitul accept Rono’s love?

Preme Pora Baron offers several positive elements. Firstly, its engaging story effortlessly captures the attention of young audiences, especially on Valentine's Day. Director Arijeet Toton Chakraborty and scriptwriter Sudeep Das deserve praise for presenting a captivating love story on this special occasion.

The depiction of Saraswati Puja and local celebrations feels authentic, adding to the film's charm. The absence of such romantic dramas in Bengali cinema makes this film a refreshing addition. A theatrical release would have enhanced its impact.

Anindya Sengupta delivers a commendable performance as Rono, surpassing his previous roles, particularly in X=Prem. He effectively portrays Rono's passionate yet flawed character. Debchandrima Singha Roy convincingly embodies Mitul, although her character's depth could have been better explored.

The chemistry between Mitul and Rono, while occasionally convincing, lacks consistency, highlighting a weakness in the writing. The dynamics of Rono's relationship with his parents (Shyamashish Pahari and Ishita Chatterjee) remain underdeveloped. Supporting actors Bharat Kaul, Ananya Biswas, Dipannita Sardar, and Subha Chattopadhyay make notable contributions.

The music composition by Savvy, particularly the title track, enriches the series' emotional landscape. The romantic drama series Preme Pora Baron is thoroughly engaging with compelling writing by Sudeep Das, skillful direction by Arijeet Toton Chakraborty, and stellar performances by Anindya Sengupta and Debchandrima Singha Roy.
