On October 6, 2023, ZEE5 unveiled the trailer for Indranil Roychowdhury's debut web series, Chhotolok. This 2-minute and 11-second trailer offers a glimpse into the plot of this upcoming mystery thriller.
The story revolves around Raja Bhattacharya (Gaurav Chakrabarty), who is dissatisfied with his failing marriage to Mallika Das (Priyanka Sarkar). In his pursuit of happiness, he becomes entangled in an affair with Rupsha (Ushasi Ray), a woman harboring a dark past. Tragedy strikes when Rupsha is discovered dead, setting the stage for the unraveling of her killer's identity.
As Raja emerges as the prime suspect, the tenacious investigating officer, SI Sabitri Mondal (Daminee Benny Basu), takes on the task of interrogating him. However, Raja's formidable mother, Mohor Bhattacharya (Indrani Halder), who is a powerful politician, is shown to wield her influence and threaten SI Sabitri Mondal. The series also features Ushasi Chakraborty, Subhrajit Dutta, Loknath Dey, and Sumit Samaddar in pivotal roles.
Indranil Roychowdhury, known for his previous directorial work in films like Mayar Jonjal, Phoring, and Ekti Bangali Bhooter Golpo, presents an intriguing challenge as he ventures into the realm of web series for the first time.
In the same year, Priyanka Sarkar was featured in Manabjomin and Abar Bibaho Obhijaan. She is set to appear in upcoming movies and series, including Lojja, Radio, Aahalya, Kurban, Dhappa, and Mir Zafar Chapter 2.
Indrani Halder, who was last seen in the family drama Kuler Achar, makes her presence felt in Chhotolok. Gaurav Chakrabarty, who had a busy year with projects like Tenida and Company, Seven, Abar Proloy, Mayaa, and Parnashavarir Shaap, adds Chhotolok as his sixth project of the year and will also feature in Saralakkha Holmes.
Ushasi Ray, who was part of projects like Kumudini Bhaban, Gobhir Joler Maach, and Gora 2, takes on her fourth project of the year in Chhotolok. Meanwhile, Subhrajit Dutta, last seen in Jongole Mitin Mashi, joins the cast as well.
