Jomaloye Jibonto Bhanu (2023): The first look poster has been released

On August 26th, the momentous occasion of the birth anniversary of the legendary actor Bhanu Bandyopadhyay was marked by the unveiling of the first look poster for director Dr. Krishnendu Chatterjee’s upcoming film, "Jomaloye Jibonto Bhanu." This film was originally intended to be directed by Sayantan Ghosal.

Saswata Chatterjee has been entrusted with the portrayal of Bhanu Bandyopadhyay, a figure who graced over 300 movies and continues to hold a cherished place in the hearts of Bengali cinema aficionados. The unveiled first look prominently features Saswata Chatterjee, so astonishingly attired in the likeness of Bhanu Bandyopadhyay that distinguishing between the two would indeed pose a challenge. In this poster, he stands elegantly clad in a kurta and dhoti, with a cat and bicycle by his side, forming an evocative tableau.

The poster release event was graced by the presence of Bhanu Bandyopadhyay's daughter, Basabi Bandyopadhyay Ghatak, and his son, Goutam Bandyopadhyay. The creators of the film have confirmed that this cinematic endeavor neither qualifies as a biopic of Bhanu Bandyopadhyay nor as a sequel to "Jomaloye Jibonto Manush." Instead, it stands as a reverential tribute to the cinematic luminary, encompassing glimpses from some of his most remarkable cinematic works.

Anticipated for a release in the upcoming winter season, the film bears the stamp of production by Suman Kumar Das and is presented by Burima Chitram. The musical compositions for the film will be orchestrated by Raja Narayan Deb, while Somnath Kundu has been entrusted with the role of the film's makeup artist.

Saswata Chatterjee's recent tour de force as an action hero in Raj Chakraborty’s "Abar Proloy" has resonated strongly. This versatile actor had previously breathed life into the characters of Ritwik Ghatak in "Meghe Dhaka Tara" and Uttam Kumar in "Achena Uttam," showcasing his remarkable range and prowess.
