Avrodh: The Siege Within Web Series Review:

The story of the "Avrodh" web series is about the 2016 Uri surgical strike. We have already watched a movie named Uri: The Surgical Strike on this story. The lead role in that movie was played by the brilliant Vicky Kaushal. Here we will revisit the detailed story of that surgical strike in Avrodh.

This was certainly, one of the historic and most memorable triumphs India had over the rival country. The main story was based on one of the chapters from Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book “India’s Most Fearless”. Patriotism-related movies and series give us Goosebumps and those suspense moments kept us hooked to our seats.

Darshan Kumaar as Major Goutam has delivered a notable performance in the earlier episodes of the series. Just when we were feeling that the story needs someone to make it a gripping one then Major Videep Singh played by Amit Sadh appeared.

It was a little bit late though almost after 4th episode. But his screen presence was so good that once he enters the story started to look a bit more alive. He is certainly geared up after his previous appearance in Breathe 2 which received lots of praise.

After the online meeting with the PM of India played by Vikram Gokhale, Major Videep Singh was given the green signal to go ahead with the mission of surgical strike. He has fixed some names to prepare a strong team that can make the mission successful.

We have seen Neeraj Kabi delivering some top-class performances in his previous roles, especially in the “Patal Lok” & “Sacred Games” web series. Avrodh gets a boost from his impactful acting. His role as a National Security Advisor makes the story look so intriguing.

Madhurima Tuli was quite impressive as the fearless Journalist Namrata Joshi who is always on the hunt for the truth. She came so close to getting the information about the surgical strike from her reliable source. Started her journey as a Journalist and at the climax, we saw her publishing her own book “India Strikes 10 Days”.

Praveena Deshpande, Vikram Gokhale, Anant Mahadevan, & Major Bikramjeet Kanwarpal have made their presence felt with the few scenes they had in the story. Arif Zakaria did a good job as an officer of the National Investigating Agency. He was impressive from the very first scene where he enters the Army Base Camp in Uri to investigate how the rivals attacked the camp.

Anil George as Abu Hafiz was tried well in the lead negative role. He was speaking in the Kashmiri language makes it sometimes difficult to understand the meaning.

Avrodh was certainly not a high-on-spirit type web series but it was successful in giving us a clear picture of how they made the surgical strike mission successful. This is where Director Raj Acharya shows his brilliance. You will rarely find any emotional connection here like the “URI: The Surgical Strike” movie. But overall Avrodh is worth watching.

Avrodh web series is streaming on Sony LIV.
