Maharshi (2019) Telugu Review: Story & Performances

The story of the Maharshi movie revolves around Rishi (Mahesh Babu), CEO of a US-based software company. He is one of those guys who are just focused on their career, reaching on top of everything, succeeding in everything.

During this process of reaching where he wants to, he left his family and best friend Ravi(Allari Naresh) and broke up with his girlfriend Pooja(Pooja Hegde).

During a reunion with college friends, Rishi learned from Professor Chandrasekhar(Rao Ramesh) about his friend Ravi’s sacrifice for Rishi’s future.

Rishi decided to go back to India to fulfill Ravi’s dreams. He landed in Ravi’s village Ramavaram. During this journey, he rediscovers himself by learning the farming process.

Mahesh Babu’s script selection needs to be appreciated. Recently, he is choosing more scripts about social issues and sending strong messages through his movies. His performance was outstanding in Maharshi. His transformation in the second half of the movie shows his ability to perform different characters with ease.

Allari Naresh also justified his character of Ravi as Rishi’s best friend. Prakash Raj as Rishi's father K. Satyanarayana, Jayasudha as Rishi's mother, and Jagapathi Babu as Vivek Mittal also provided valuable contributions. Pooja Hegde had nothing much to do as per her character in the script.

Vamshi Paidipally’s direction was superb. Unlike his previous directorial movies, he has tried a completely different story in Maharshi. The story comprises many sub-plots and well-written characters that made it worth watching.

The movie's first half was more exciting as it included the college scenes. A predictable storyline in the second half and the length of the film might make you feel a bit bored.

Maharshi might remind you of director A.R. Murugadoss’s movie Kaththi starring Vijay. The storyline of Maharshi is quite similar to Kaththi in a few parts.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music was top-notch. Ram-Lakshman-directed action sequences were also quite good.

Summarising Maharshi Review we can say that Maharshi was an attempt to make us aware of the farmers’ struggles, and their contributions to our daily life. Farmers neither get the deserved amount for their hard work nor the respect.
