Tamil Rockerz Season 1 Review: Story, Performance & Analysis

At the beginning of the story, we saw two simultaneous events. One where a group of robbers was searching for something in a room and in the other one, fans are waiting outside the theatre and celebrating to watch the first-day first show of their favorite star’s movie.

A producer received a call where he came to know that his movie has been leaked online by Tamil Rockerz, a group that distributes copyrighted content illegally. He committed suicide thinking about the pressure he will get from the theatre owners.

ACP Rudhra (Arun Vijay) was living a happily married life with his wife Keerthana (Iswarya Menon). His wife was kidnapped and died in the car blast. He regretted her loss and always kept refreshing his memories with her. She loved cinema but he never did and he was very responsible for his duty. Due to his sincerity and dedication toward his job, DIG Sandeep Menon handed over the case to find Tamil Rockerz.

Team Tamil Rockerz had promised that they will release online action star Aditya’s upcoming movie Garuda before its theatrical release. Rudhra got a team including inspector Nelson (Vinod Sagar), cyber forensic officer Sandhya (Vani Bhojan), and cybercrime SI Bhanu (Vinodhini Vaidyanathan) to track the team.

Rudhra understood the pain of people who are associated with cinema when he met with Sandhya’s father. He understood how Tamil Rockerz is making these people suffer by releasing copyrighted content online.

Can Rudhra track the Tamil Rockerz? Can he stop them from leaking the Garuda movie online? Season 1 answers these questions in later episodes and the climax hints we might get a season 2 of this series.

Director Arivazhagan deserves appreciation for focusing more on the right areas to keep the audiences engaged. Ignoring a few flaws like the climax which could have been more gripping but ended up a bit ordinary, we can say Tamil Rockerz is a good revenge drama to add to your watch list.

Arun Vijay looks promising as ACP Rudhra and this kind of role fits him quite well and am sure fans will be happy to see him in more such roles. Though he has won 3 awards in his career for Yennai Arindhaal(2) & Chakravyuha(1) and all 3 for his negative roles.

Vani Bhojan and Iswarya Menon did good justice to their respective characters. Arun Vijay’s chemistry with neither of them looked good. Yes, this was not a romantic drama but focusing a bit more on the romantic angle could have made this a more complete series.

Azhagam Perumal, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and Vinod Sagar provided ably support with their respective characters. The music & background score by Vikas Badisa and B Rajasekar's cinematography are the other major highlights of Tamil Rockerz Season 1.

Final Words:

It’s good to see such content that needs people’s attention to let them know about the other side of the story and how people associated with cinema get affected due to piracy. Director Arivazhagan and creator Manoj Kumar Kalaivanan deserve accolades for creating and executing the series.
