Shiddat (2021) Hindi Movie Review: Story, Performance & Analysis

Shiddat tells the story of two different love stories. On his wedding day, Gautam (played by Mohit Raina) delivers a touching tribute to his fiancé Ira (Diana Penty). Inspired by his words, the enthusiastic Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal) congratulates the couple.

Jaggi, a hockey player, is searching for his soulmate and finds her in swimmer Kartika (Radhika Madan). Despite initially receiving a clear rejection from Kartika, Jaggi persists and eventually wins her heart with his dedication and persistence. However, when Kartika's father arranges for her to marry someone else, Jaggi is heartbroken but determined to win her back.

Meanwhile, the lives of Gautam and Ira have changed significantly since their marriage, leading Ira to file for divorce. Jaggi attempts to reunite the couple, but his efforts are ultimately unsuccessful.

Kunal Deshmukh made his directorial debut in Bollywood in 2008 with the film Jannat, starring Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan. He has since directed movies such as Tum Mile, Jannat 2, and Raja Natwarlal. Shiddat marks Deshmukh's return to directing after a seven-year hiatus.

Sunny Kaushal delivers an outstanding performance, and the chemistry between Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan is refreshing. Sachin-Jigar's compositions are also a highlight of the film. Radhika Madan as Kartika delivers a top-notch performance.

However, in some parts, the Shiddat movie is illogical and unrealistic, and the execution of the romantic drama is weak in the second half. Director Kunal Deshmukh fails to fully utilize the talents of Mohit Raina and Diana Penty, with Penty's spirited social worker character deserving more screen time.

Final Words on Shiddat Movie Review:

While the Bollywood film Shiddat (2021) has some strengths, including strong performances and good music, its weaknesses in writing and execution hold it back from being a truly great romantic drama.
