Writer-director Nirjhar Mitra is back in action with his upcoming thriller Birangana, starring Sandipta Sen and Niranjan Mondal in the lead roles. The series is set to premiere on the OTT platform Hoichoi on 25th July 2025.

Birangana marks Nirjhar Mitra's second collaboration with Hoichoi, following the success of Dainee, which also released on the platform earlier this year. With this new project, 

Nirjhar appears ready to complete a hat-trick of acclaimed ventures—Shikarpur, Dainee, and now Birangana. Hoichoi shared the announcement teaser of Birangana on 10th July 2025. 

The series marks the OTT debut of Niranjan Mondal, popularly known as Laughtersane, who will be seen portraying the character of Chirayu with a bit of dark shade.

Birangana also marks his maiden collaboration with Hoichoi, director Nirjhar Mitra, and co-star Sandipta Sen. Adding to the excitement, Hoichoi unveiled the character poster of Chirayu on 14th July 2025.

Anirban Bhattacharya, Pratik Dutta, Aditya Sengupta, and Sreya Bhattacharyya will be seen in crucial roles in the series, adding further depth and intrigue to Birangana’s narrative.

Hoichoi unveiled the first look poster featuring Sandipta Sen on 4th July 2025, followed by the pre-announcement teaser on 6th July, and the official poster of the series on 8th July 2025. Sandipta Sen will be seen portraying the role of Inspector Chitra Basu in Birangana, marking the first time she takes on the role of a cop. 

In the teaser, Chitra Basu is seen pursuing a serial killer who preys on newly-married women. It is undoubtedly one of the most challenging characters of her career. Known for her powerful performances in series like Noshtoneer and Bodhon, Sandipta continues to push her boundaries as an actor. Birangana also marks her second collaboration with director Nirjhar Mitra, following their successful maiden venture Shikarpur.
