Hi Nanna (Hi Papa) (2023) Movie Review: Story and Performances:

The story revolves around Viraj (Nani), a single parent and professional photographer, who takes good care of his 6-year-old daughter Mahi (Baby Kiara Khanna). They live together with Viraj's father-in-law, Jayaram. Mahi loves hearing stories from her father and enjoys imagining the characters with real people. Despite her curiosity about her mother, Viraj remains silent on the matter.

Finally, he promises to reveal her mother's story if Mahi ranks first in her class. She achieves this, but Viraj fails to keep his promise. In response, Mahi leaves the house with their only pet dog, Pluto, without informing anyone. During her time on the road, she is about to meet an accident, but Yashna (Mrunal Thakur) saves her. Will Viraj eventually tell Mahi her mother's story? Who is Yashna?

Hi Nanna is an engaging romantic family drama directed by Shouryuv, who also wrote the story, and barring the slow pace in the middle there is no weak aspect of this film. The film stands out for its well-developed relationships, particularly the on-screen chemistry between Nani and Mrunal Thakur, and Viraj's bonding with his daughter Mahi.

Nani, known for his outstanding performance in Jersey, delivers another emotional roller-coaster in Hi Nanna. His portrayal of the pain of a father and husband is compelling, evoking both tears and empathy.

Mrunal Thakur gives a brilliant performance as Yashna and Varsha, handling emotional scenes with grace. Kiara Khanna as Mahi looks convincing, while Priyadarshi Pulikonda as Viraj's friend Justin and Jayaram as Viraj's father-in-law provide decent support with their performances.

Hesham Abdul Wahab's music composition deserves a special mention. If you're in search of an engaging family drama, especially after watching Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, then Nani's Hi Nanna is a must-watch.
