Dry Day (2023) Trailer Review: Saurabh Shukla’s 6th directorial venture

The highly anticipated trailer of Jitendra Kumar, known for his role in Panchayat, in the upcoming comedy-drama Dry Day was unveiled on December 15, 2023. Produced by Emmay Entertainment and directed by Saurabh Shukla, the 2-and-a-half-minute trailer provides a glimpse into the plot centered around Gannu (Jitendra Kumar).

During a crowded rally, Gannu declares himself the King, clutching a bottle of alcohol on stage. The story takes a twist when his wife, Nirmala (Shriya Pilgaonkar), announces her decision to terminate the pregnancy unless Gannu quits drinking.

Facing off against the influential local politician Dauji (Annu Kapoor), Gannu decided to contest the election with a campaign focused on curbing alcohol addiction in the community of Jagodhar. Will Gannu overcome the challenge posed by Dauji and his internal struggles?

The trailer showcases promise, featuring well-executed editing. Jitendra Kumar, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Annu Kapoor exhibit impressive comic timing. Writer-Director Saurabh Shukla delivers a clear societal message about the need to stop alcohol consumption.

Notable performances include Jagdish Rajpurohit as Nirmala’s father and Kiran Bhargava, a popular television actress from Kumkum Bhagya and Prem Bandhan, portraying the role of Jitendra Kumar’s mother.

Jitendra Kumar, last seen in Sameer Saxena’s Jaadugar, shares the screen with Shriya Pilgaonkar, who was previously featured in Taaza Khabar, and Annu Kapoor, who appeared in Dream Girl 2 earlier this year.

Dry Day marks Saurabh Shukla’s 6th directorial venture, following Mudda-The Issue, I M 24, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi?, and Chehraa.
