War 2 (2025) Movie: N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Hrithik Roshan’s Maiden Collaboration
On November 29, 2023, the release date for Director Ayan Mukherji’s upcoming action thriller, War 2, has been confirmed. The high-octane action thriller, featuring Hrithik Roshan as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, is set to hit theaters on August 14, 2025.
This film, the sequel to Siddharth Anand’s blockbuster War, marks the Bollywood debut of RRR fame actor N. T. Rama Rao Jr., who plays the antagonist. The post-credit scene in Tiger 3 has heightened excitement among fans, eager to witness the magic of the first-time collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and N. T. Rama Rao Jr. Kiara Advani, stepping into the spy universe for the first time, will play a significant role in the film.
War 2 is Ayan Mukherji's fourth directorial venture, following Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. It is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe, written by Aditya Chopra. This movie also marks Ayan Mukherji's first foray into the spy genre and his maiden collaboration with Hrithik Roshan, N. T. Rama Rao Jr., and Kiara Advani. All three of his previous directorial ventures featured Ranbir Kapoor as the male lead.
The story is a major concern, as it is an area where, apart from the overall execution, the makers need to focus on in War 2 and Tiger vs Pathaan. According to official reports, the recently released Tiger 3, the fifth film in the YRF Spy Universe directed by Maneesh Sharma, made on a budget of Rs 300 crore, has a worldwide box office gross collection of Rs 447 crores.
This figure might not be favorable when compared to Atlee’s Jawan, made on a budget of 300 crores, which has a box office collection of over Rs 1100 crores worldwide, and Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan, made on a budget of Rs 225 crores, with a box office collection of more than Rs 1000 crores worldwide, & Anil Sharma' Gadar 2, made on a budget of 60 crores with a box office collection of more than Rs 650 crores worldwide.
Hrithik Roshan will also be seen in Siddharth Anand's upcoming thriller Fighter. NTR Jr will be seen in Devara part 1 & part 2, & Prashanth Neel's next untitled film. Kiara Advani will be seen in Ram Charan starring film Game Changer.
