Srijit Mukherji Unveiled Dawshom Awbotaar (2023) Trailer:

On the 23rd of September 2023, on the eve of his birthday, director Srijit Mukherji delighted fans by sharing a glimpse of the trailer for his upcoming thriller, Dawshom Awbotaar, and confirmed that the full trailer would arrive the very next day. Today, the trailer for this highly anticipated film has been released.

The movie features a stellar cast including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Jisshu U Sengupta, Jaya Ahsan, and Rajesh Sharma in lead roles, and is scheduled to hit theaters on the 19th of October 2023, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja.

The mystery thriller is a joint production by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment, marking the 9th collaboration between Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srijit Mukherji. One of the most exciting aspects of this 3-minute trailer is witnessing two of our favorite characters Probir Roy Chowdhury and Bijoy Podder together on screen.

The film serves as a double prequel to Srijit Mukherji's previous films "Baishey Shrabon" and "Vinci Da," bringing Prosenjit Chatterjee as Probir Roy Chowdhury and Anirban Bhattacharya as Bijoy Podder together. The trailer expertly presents various facets of their relationship, from intense investigative scenes to lighter moments and even bitter conflicts.

In this film, these two stalwart characters join forces to investigate a series of serial killings plaguing the city of joy, Kolkata. Adding intrigue to the plot, Jisshu U Sengupta plays a negative character who believes himself to be the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is on a divine mission to cleanse the earth.

The iconic dialogues from both "Baishey Shrabon" and "Vinci Da," such as "Ami mudir dokan chalai na," "Chicken Chowmin & Chilly Fish," and "Dal Bhaat & Biryani," have been brilliantly incorporated into this film.

Probir Roy Chowdhury ominously declares, "If I become a serial killer in 8-10 years, I'll follow this kind of metaphorical pattern."

Meanwhile, Jaya Ahsan claims to have knowledge of the serial killer and reveals that the murderer believes himself to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu's tenth avatar (dawshom awbotaar). A hint of chemistry is also teased as she shares a kissing scene with Bijoy Podder.

The trailer seamlessly weaves in mythological references, complemented by Anupam Roy's music and Indraadip Das Gupta's background score. Soumik Haldar serves as the Director of Photography (DOP), while Pronoy Dasgupta handles the editing of this thriller.

Apart from the presence of actors like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Jisshu U Sengupta, Jaya Ahsan, Dawshom Awbotaar is special because it's been four years since we last enjoyed a Srijit Mukherji film during Durga Puja, with "Gumnaami". Mukherji's upcoming directorial ventures include "Oti Uttam" and "Padatik," promising more cinematic treats for all of us.
