Ram Setu (2022) Hindi Movie Review: Story

The story begins with renowned archaeologist Aryan Kulsheshtra (Akshay Kumar) who arrives in Bamyan with a team to save the Buddhist heritage. He manages to take Buddhist heritage safely back home though the Taliban attacked there.

A business tycoon Indrakanth (Nasser) was facing a problem to construct his biggest project Sethusamudram as he had to prove that Ram Setu was a naturally formed structure. Aryan got a promotion for his excellent work & was assigned the task to prove Ram Setu is not a manmade structure within a short notice.

He prepared a report & his wife (Nushratt Bharucha) was not happy after seeing the report due to their opinion differences and she also warned him that it was hurting our culture. His report raises many questions about Ramayana & he was suspended. But he was unofficially appointed by Indrakanth to work on the assignment along with environmentalist Dr. Sandra Rebello (Jacqueline Fernandez), Project Manager Bali (Praveshh Rana), & Dr. Gabrielle (Jennifer Piccinato). Will Aryan be able to prove Ram Setu a naturally formed structure?

Performances & Analysis

This is Akshay Kumar’s 5th movie in 2022 after Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, & Cuttputlli but none of these leave a big impact at the box office. His performances in Raksha Bandhan, & Cuttputlli were highly appreciated by audiences & he kept that one thing unchanged in this movie too.

Apart from him, Satyadev Kancharana as AP did a fantastic job. Nushrratt Bharuccha certainly deserved better screen time. Jacqueline Fernandez and Nassar supported well with their respective characters.

Abhishek Sharma’s previous directorial movie Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari was released in 2020. Ram Setu marks his second collaboration with Akshay Kumar after The Shaukeens but the poor writing and execution let the audience’s expectations down. The research part will excite you with some valuable historical information. The movie has so many flaws, especially the VFX, editing & music looked very ordinary.

Final Words:

Director Abhishek Sharma’s adventure thriller Ram Setu has only Akshay Kumar & Satyadev Kancharana’s good performances to stop you from feeling disappointed at the end of the show.
