Shakuntala Devi Movie Review

Movie Name: Shakuntala Devi
Director: Anu Menon
Producer: Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Vikram Malhotra
Story & Screenplay: Anu Menon, Nayanika Mahtani
DOP: Keiko Nakahara
Music: Sachin-Jigar
Cast - Vidya Balan, Sanya Malhotra, Amit Sadh, Jisshu Sengupta, Prakash Belawadi, Sheeba Chaddha, Luca Calvani

Shakuntala Devi Movie Review: Shakuntala Devi movie is based on the biopic of the mathematical genius Shakuntala Devi. The character of Shakuntala Devi was played by the gorgeous Vidya Balan. She was having the ability from her childhood to solve any mathematical equation faster. Soon her brilliance was brought into the notice of her parents. Then her father started to take her to different mathematics shows where she used to perform and earn something. She keeps achieving newer heights and then she also earned a place in the “Guinness Book Of World Records” in 1982 edition.

She was sent to UK After she shoots the person with whom she was in a relationship as he was trying to cheat on her. There she meets an IAS officer named Paritosh Banerjee played by the charming Jisshu Sengupta. Jisshu has played the character of a loving, caring and supportive husband as well as a father so nicely. After their daughter Anu played by Sanya Malhotra came into their life, Shakuntala Devi realized she is losing her focus and she wanted to start her stage performance again. Jisshu supported and assured her of taking the full responsibility of their daughter.

The problem arises when their daughter grows up as Shakuntala Devi was unable to maintain the balance between her first love Mathematics and her daughter. Shakuntala Devi’s relationship with her daughter was never good. Anu wanted to marry Abhaya played by Amit Sadh who is having a dream run of successive webseries and films like Breathe, Brrathe 2, Yaara, Avrodh etc. He has done a fantastic job here also. When Shakuntala Devi came to know that Anu will not shift to London with her, she disagrees to her daughter’s marriage with Abhaya.

The director Anu Menon has portrayed the Mother-daughter relationship beautifully. Shakuntala Devi movie is about how Shakuntala Devi has tried to balance her life with her ambition. We have seen some emotional moments in her relationship with her Parents, husband, daughter, and son-in-law. Her speech in the climax was the most emotional part of this movie. It was a solid performance from the talented Vidya Balan who tried to give her top performance this time also and she really succeeded into it. We also should not forget the contribution of Sanya Malhotra who was quite amazing as Shakuntala Devi’s daughter’s role.

Some awesome performances from Vidya Balan, Jisshu, Sanya, Amit made this a must watch movie. Shakuntala Devi movie is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Breakup Story Webseries Review:

Hoichoi has come up with Mainak Bhaumik's first webseries Breakup Story, a romantic drama that has released on 24th July 2020. In this aerticle we will discuss about the Breakup Story Webseries Review.

First 5 episodes consist of 5 different stories. Every couple’s journey of ups and downs till breakups was the main plot of this webseries. Mainak has shown the emotional and romantic scenes quite brilliantly. The storytelling of Mainak has always been awesome and he has repeated that here also.

Mainak is well known for his brilliant works in Bengali movies. His first Bengali movie was Aamra in 2006. Thereafter, he has delivered some amazing movies like Aamra (2006), Bedroom (2012), Maach Mishti & More (2013), Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends (2013), Kolkata Calling (2014), Family Album (2015), Bibaho Diaries (2017), Ghare & Baire (2018), Genaration Aami (2018), Bornoporichoy (2019), Goyenda Junior (2019), etc. and few more.

The characters of this webseries were very well chosen. The first couple was Sanjay played by Sourav Das and Priyanka played by Anindita Bose. Both of them played their part so well, giving us a sweet on screen chemistry consisting of their romantic moments their fights.

Anindita Bose might be enjoying her success after two hit webseries like “Patal Lok” and “Mafia”. She is giving her best to make those characters look more real. We are hoping for her continued success in coming days also.

The next couple was Roshni played by Tuhina Das & Shreya played by Sauraseni Maitra. Tuhina Das was quite impressive here playing the character of a talkative, caring girl and roommate of Shreya.

Sauraseni Maitra who has already acted in some hit movies like: “Machher Jhol”, “Generation Ami”, “Byomkesh Gotro” an few more, played her part with utmost brilliance.

Next couple was Sohom played by Aryann Bhowmik, & Joyeeta played by Alivia Sarkar. Their relationship was too much complicated because of Sohom’s closeness to his professor Aparna Maam played by Chandreyee Ghosh, who is waiting for her husband to finish the divorce procedure faster. It was a mind-blowing performance from Aryann,we watched in this webseries.

Last couple was Amrita played by Sohini Sarkar & Dhruvo played by Ranojay. Dhruvo is yet to give divorce to her wife Aparna but having a live-in relation with Amrita. Rest of the story keeps moving towards how they went on for the break up.

Watching the first 5 episodes, we can easily say that Mainak is a winner here also making his first release on OTT platform to be a successful one. The “Breakup Story” webseries is streaming on Hoichoi.

Omerta Movie Review

Omerta Movie Review

Movie Name: Omerta
Writer & Director: Hansal Mehta
Music: Ishaan Chhabra
Story: Mukul Dev
Producer: Nahid Khan
Cast: Rajkumar Rao, Rupinder Nagra, Rajesh Tailang, Blake Allan, Keval Arora

Omerta Movie Review: The story of Omerta movie revolves around the character Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British-born Pakistani originated dreaded terrorist played by Rajkumar Rao. To be very honest it was a one man show of Rajkumar Rao. The man has impressed us again with his brilliant performance in Omerta movie. His executions of kidnapping those tourists & a journalist were too good.

You will rarely find any emotional connection watching those bitter crimes but Director Mehta has added some real footage to make the story more realistic also the reason of Omar’s doing such crimes and becoming a terrorist was unclear.

Director Hansal Mehta who has already delivered some hit movies like “Sahid”, “Aligarh”, & “City Lights” comes up this time with another good movie “Omerta”. His career as a Director took a turn with the success of “Sahid”. His upcoming movie is “Chhalaang” starring Rajkumar Rao & Nushrat Bharucha, produced by Ajay Devgn, Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg & Bhushan Kumar.

Rajkumar Rao is one of those actors in Bollywood who has made a mark in audience’s heart with their talents. It’s already 10 years he is in the Industry after his first release as an actor in the movie “Love Sex Aur Dhokha” of Director Dibakar Banerjee opposite Nushrat Bharucha that was back in 2010. Though that film did not work well in the Box Office he never gave up.

He won some awards for his films like “Kai Po Che”, “Sahid”, “Aligarh”, “Newton” and few more are there which has given his career the right direction. His upcoming project with Hansal Mehta is “Chhalaang”.

Other than Rajkumar Rao, some notable performances were there from Rajesh Tailang & Rupinder Nagra. Rajesh Tailang who has acted in movies like Phantom, Dev, Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Thakshak, Commando 3, Aiyaary and few more. Rupinder Nagra did some notable roles in movies like Kurbaan, Raees, Simran etc.

If you are searching for some movies with good content to watch out during this lockdown then you can choose “Omerta” to see the great performance of Rajkumar Rao. You can watch it on ZEE5.

Dil Bechara Movie Review

Dil Bechara Movie Review

Movie Name: Dil Bechara
Director: Mukesh Chhabra
Production Company: Fox Star Studios
Music Director: A. R. Rahman
Casts: Late Sushant Singh Rajput as Immanuel Rajkumar Junior Also Known As Manny
Sanjana Sanghi as Kizie Basu
Saswata Chatterjee as Mr. Basu (Kizie’s Father)
Swastika Mukherjee as Mrs. Basu (Kizie’s Mother)
Sahil Vaid as J.P (Manny’s Best Friend)
Saif Ali Khan as Abhimanyu Veer (Musician)

Dil Bechara Movie Review: Dil Bechara movie is Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie released on 24th July at 7.30 P.M on Disney+Hotstar. The story of the movie revolves around two cancer patients Kizie and Manny. Kizie has thyroid cancer on the other hand Manny had osteosarcoma.

It is the adaptation of John Green’s “The Fault In Our Stars”. Dil Bechara movie is completely an emotional journey of Kizie & Manny filled with so much energy, joyful moments that gives you Goosebumps.

The moment Sushant appears on his first scene it was joy, energy, happiness all around that Kizie forgot all her pains and kept watching him. The more she watches and meets him she becomes unable to stop herself from falling for that fun-loving, carefree guy.

He will make you so much emotionally connected with his character Manny. He was high on energy, full of life who loves to enjoy life keeping aside all of his worries. His on screen chemistry with Kizie has been fantastic and one of the main reasons that people loved the movie so much.

Sanjana Sanghi, got the opportunity to work in a sole female lead character and her Kizie Basu character didn’t disappoint us. Being thoroughly fond of a boring life, she became quite surprised to see an energetic, loving, joyous, cute and full of life type of guy Manny.

Her world becomes to change slowly, making her more curious and interested to see and meet Manny. From there the story starts moving towards an interesting and unexpected climax.

Saif Ali Khan as Abhimanyu Veer had very short time to impress but he was priceless in that one scene also he made it count. Such a good screen presence he has, his character was of a musician whose last song was incomplete.

Saswata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee as Mr. & Mrs. Basu (Kizie’s Father & Mother) has also played their part well. Their occasional Bengali speaking, also Swastika telling Kizie to eat Sandesh has made the things look so real due to belonging from a Bengali family.

Swastika’s character is little bit cautious, loving and caring mother, while Saswata Chatterjee has played the role of a sweet father. Whether it is about making his daughter understood and sort out thing between Kizie & Manny or it’s about making her wife convinced to permit their daughter for the risky trip, he was there as a very good supporter.

Sahil Vaid as J.P was also equally supportive in contributing his part on a high note. His emotional quote on Manny’s pre-funeral was such a heart-touching. The strong bonding between them was another eye-catching part of this movie.

Talking about director Mukesh Chhabra it was a great experience for him to taste such success on his debut movie as Director. Music of Dil Bechara movie was scored by the Oscar wining Music Director A.R Rahman and he has tried to make all tracks hit. The songs are being loved by audiences and also trending on few music apps.

It is a tribute of our love for Sushant and we are hopeful that he is watching all of us wherever he is now. The movie got an IMDb rating of 9.9 out of 10, which is quite phenomenal. The fans are showering their praise and love for Dil Bechara movie as well as on Sushant Singh Rajput.

Dil Bechara movie is available on Disney+Hotstar for everyone irrespective of subscription. It is really worth watching. So, if are getting bored at home during this lockdown then you can watch this master piece.

Bulbbul Movie Review

Bulbbul Movie Review

Movie Name: Bulbbul
Writer & Director: Anvita Dutt Guptan
Producer: Anushka Sharma
Cast: Tripti Dimri as Bulbbul
Paoli Dam as Binodini
Avinash Tiwary as Satya
Rahul Bose as Indranil
Parambrata Chatterjee as Dr. Sudip

Bulbbul Movie Review: Bulbbul is one of the latest movies released on Netflix. This was the directorial debut for Anvita Dutt Guptan. Previously she has done some awesome works as a dialogue writer and lyricist in movies like Kambakkht Ishq, Shaandaar & Queen, etc. She has not left any stone unturned this time to bring the best for her debut direction.

Producer Anushka Sharma has really got the x factor in investing her money at the right place & for the right people. After the grand success of the webseries “Patal Lok” she has chosen Bulbbul, a supernatural horror genre movie.

The plot was based on a child bride who becomes mysterious with time while she grows young. While her child day’s innocence was eye-catching, she was immense powerful arriving at her young age. She is good at hiding her pain, past wounds to everyone.

Tripti Dimri as Bulbbul and badi bahu of the Thakur family has given her best performance till date. She had made her Bollywood debut with the movie “Poster Boys”. She has received lots of praise for the audiences for her role in the movie Laila Majnu. Avinash Tiwary was the male lead in that movie.

Paoli Dam as Binodini, the chhoti bahu has impressed the audiences again. She has been the consistent performer for quite some time now. She has started her career in Hindi films with a brilliant performance in the movie “Hate Story”.

Meanwhile, this was also the debut for Rahul Bose, on OTT platform. His character of Indranil as well as Mahendra was quite good in the bad character. He has praised a lot for the Director Anvita Dutt Guptan.

Avinash Tiwary who had made his debut with Tu Hai Mera Sunday movie has played character of Satya. He hadm unresolved emotions for Bulbbul, so when he saw Bulbbul and Dr. Sudip together after coming back from London he was very jealous and curious to learn about Dr. Sudip. When he heard the mysterious death of villagers, he dismissed the villager’s claim as old wives tales.

After his strong character in Pari, Parambrata has been given another challenging role and he has tried his hart out with an outstanding performance. His character of Dr. Sudip was the closest one to Bulbbul’s heart. He used to spend time with Bulbbul for the treatment to heal her from her wounds.

Few of those characters in the story should have been given more attention but the story focused on thinly written characters. Director Anvita Dutt Guptan had really tried well to give the audience a good script with some top performances but there were scope to make it even better and we are hoping she will be working on those areas.

We would like to mention that Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film “Dil Bechara” will premiere on 24th July at 7.30 P.M on Disney+Hotstar.

Virgin Bhanupriya Movie Review

Virgin Bhanupriya Movie Review

Movie Name: Virgin Bhanupriya
Writer & Director: Ajay Lohan
Producer: Shreyans Mahendra Dhariwal
Music Directors: Ramji Gulati, Chirantan Bhatt, Sanjoy Chowdhury
Casts: Urvashi Rautela as Bhanupriya
Rajiv Gupta as Vijay
Niki Walia as Moon
Rumana Molla as Rukul
Sumit Gulati as Rajiv
Gautam Gulati, Brijendra Kala, Archana Puran Singh, Natasha Suri

Virgin Bhanupriya Movie Review: The story of Virgin Bhanupriya Movie revolves around a girl who is virgin and eager to lose her virginity but after many attempts she failed. Her best friend Rukul is completely different from her and she used to flirt and go for casual hook-ups with guys. She often suggests Bhanu to date a guy and start intimate encounter.

Her parents are separated and they used to fight regarding some random issues or topics whenever they come face to face. Sometimes it gives you the feeling that the story is moving directionless.
The story was somehow different but there was lack of some good performances.

The Direction: The director failed to create any impressive emotional moments. Few scenes were there which looked little funny but the story was lacking some more funny moments at the right time.
The director tried to add a twist at the climax but that was so irrelevant and that makes the scene worse.

The Music: The music was not impressive either. Ramji Gulati, Chirantan Bhatt, Sanjoy Chowdhury 3 music directors worked for the album but the tracks were so ordinary. They tried to recreate the song Pucho Na Yaar Kya Hua but did not work well.

The Acting: Talking about Urvashi Rautela, the leading lady of the story has tried to put a positive note with her acting. Except her other performances were almost forgettable. We have already seen her in some notable performances in movies like, Kaabil, Sanam Re, Pagalpanti etc.

Sumit Gulati as Rajiv had tried his best to impress with his decent, simple guy character who keeps trying to be in a relationship with Bhanu but you rarely get impressed.

Gautam Gulati, the guy with a six pack abs and with some bike stunts used to attract girls so often. But the story had rarely any good thing about his character to impress the audience.

Rumana Molla as Rukul has played her part quite well. In fact, she is the only character after Bhanu which will make you feel good.

Considering the every part of this movie it will be quite risky for you to invest your time for such a movie. If you are just trying to find something as a time pass for around 2 hours then you can give it a try only for Bhanu and Rukul’s performances.

Breathe: Into the Shadows Webseries Review: One of the trending topics on social media now is the review of the crime thriller webseries Breathe: Into the Shadows. Abhishek Bachchan has made his debut on OTT platform with this webseries.

To be fair junior Bachchan has not tasted much success in his acting career, but here he has delivered an outstanding performance. Abhishek Bachchan has played the character of Dr. Avinash Sabharwal. We have to accept the fact that it was one of the most challenging roles he has played in his career and he has given his best performance here.

Amit Sadh was simply terrific and impressive. He has been doing his roles brilliantly in few of his last webseries as a cop. This man has crossed a long way to have a screen presence and a performance like this. Amit Sadh has played the character of Kabir Sawant as a senior inspector from Mumbai Crime Branch. He is absolutely remarkable throughout this webseries.

Talking about director Mayank Sharma, he has been a genius in developing a story and presenting it so well in front of the audiences. His previous webseries also named Breathe was a masterpiece and this one somehow has surpassed his previous work.

The story revolves around A psychiatrist Avinash Sabharwal who occasionally helps police in many cases those are involved with the matter of psychological behaviour. He has a happy family including his wife Abha and their only daughter Siya. In one birthday party she (Siya) went missing which left her parents with no choice but to inform police and start investigating it.

They kept trying to search for her for few months and then after getting no information about their daughter they started being hopeless until one day they were given a task over a random phone call to kill someone to get their daughter back.

First half of the episodes were quite slow which may somehow disappoint you but it was gripping on the 2nd half episodes. The story will keep you engaged throughout the 2nd half episodes. Few scenes were there where you might think that this was completely unrelated. But Overall it was a joyous experience seeing this kind of a brilliantly presented webseries.

Let us have a look at the brief roles of other characters in Breathe: Into the Shadows webseries:

Nithya Menen has played the character of Abha Sabharwal, a chef and Avinash’s Wife. She has added a brilliant performance and deserves a lot of praise.

Ivana Kaur as Siya Sabharwal, the daughter of Avinash and Abha has been exceptional throughout.

Shrikant Verma as Jaiprakash, sub-inspector from Delhi Crime Branch.

Saiyami Kher as Shirley, she had a cameo but makes a mark with that also.

Plabita Borthakur as Meghna Verma, has quite impressed everyone with her performance. The only character that had tried to bring smile on Kabir’s face.

Hrishikesh Joshi as Prakash Kamble, sub inspector from Crime Branch Mumbai. He was assisting Kabir throughout.

Shradha Kaul as Zeba Rizvi, senior-inspector Delhi Crime Branch. She has played the character of a jealous and greedy cop.

Shruti Bapna as Natasha Garewal, she had a short role here, but quite impressive.

Writing and execution of the story was really well. While the twist was so good, which may completely surprise you but overall we can say it is a good show to watch out. You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
