Dabaru (2024): Pathikrit Basu's upcoming film's trailer looks promising

On April 30, 2024, Windows Production unveiled the official trailer of their upcoming film Dabaru, directed by Pathikrit Basu. Based on the life of Chess Grandmaster Surya Sekhar Ganguly, the film is set to hit theaters on May 10, 2024, clashing with Sandip Ray’s Nayan Rahasya.

The 3-minute trailer provides a glimpse into the plot, revolving around Souro, who is hailed as a natural chess talent by the local community. Despite facing challenges in pursuing the game, especially due to his father's (Shankar Chakraborty) concerns about their middle-class lifestyle and daily needs, Souro seizes an opportunity to compete in Germany. However, his journey is fraught with obstacles.

Souro finds unwavering support from his mother (Rituparna Sengupta) and grandfather (Dipankar De), who encourage his passion for chess. The film delves into how Souro navigates these challenges and ultimately achieves the title of Grandmaster at the age of 19. The trailer effectively maintains suspense regarding the major elements of the film.

The film boasts a stellar cast including Rituparna Sengupta, Chiranjit Chakraborty, Dipankar De, Kaushik Sen, Shankar Chakraborty, and Kharaj Mukherjee. Samadarshi Sarkar and Arghya Basu Roy portray the young Surya Sekhar Ganguly with commendable performances showcased in the trailer.

Bonnie Chakraborty’s background score lends an impressive ambiance to the trailer. Aritra Banerjee’s screenplay, Arpan Gupta’s dialogues, Madhura Palit’s cinematography, and the music composition by Bonnie Chakraborty and Prosen are anticipated to be other key highlights of the film.
