Wanted (2010) Bengali Movie Review: Jeet Impresses as an Action Hero

Director Ravi Kinagi’s action-drama film Wanted, starring Jeet, Srabanti Chatterjee, & Sharad Kapoor in the lead roles and Biswajit Chakraborty, Biplab Chatterjee, Indrajit Chakraborty, Beas Dhar, Kharaj Mukherjee, Kamalika Banerjee, Rajanya Mitra, Anshu Bach, Rajat Ganguly, Tanuka Chatterjee, & Moushumi Saha in the supporting roles, was released in theaters on April 30th, 2010. "Wanted" is the remake of Trivikram Srinivas' directorial action drama "Athadu," starring Mahesh Babu and Trisha Krishnan, which was released in 2005.

The film begins with a scene from a rainy day at Chalsa where a little boy named Raja (Anshu Bach) kills Billu and his 2 gang members and runs away. While searching for another work he arrived in front of Sadhu (Joy Badlani) who after hearing his story took him into his gang. Raja found Joy in the gang another boy of his age, they became friends there.

A grown-up Raja (Jeet) becomes a sharpshooter. He got the task to shoot politician Amarnath Ganguly (Rajat Ganguly) in a way so that Amarnath Ganguly does not die. But before Raja shoots someone else kills Amarnath Ganguly leading Raja to run away from the place.

He met Shibu (Atanu Mukherjee) in the train who was returning to his house at Ganganagar after 12 years. When the train stopped at Bishnupur station the police officer tried to shoot Raja but unfortunately, Shibu was hit by the bullet and died. CBI officer Selim Khan (Sharad Kapoor) was appointed to investigate the case. Will Selim Khan be able to find out the killer of Amarnath Ganguly?

Jeet’s top-notch performance is the major highlight of Wanted. He portrayed the role of an action hero with conviction and the action sequences choreographed by Judo Ramu were mostly eye-catching.

Srabanti Chatterjee as Pooja adds sweetness to the film with her elegant performance. The chemistry between Jeet and Srabanti was top-notch. You will enjoy their fight scenes as well as the romantic scenes between them. Director Ravi Kinagi deserves a lot of appreciation for executing this action drama brilliantly and being able to utilize the star cast to their potential.

The comedy element was perfect due to the charismatic performance of Kharaj Mukherjee. His conversations with his wife portrayed by Kamalika Banerjee were mostly hilarious. Sharad Kapoor as CBI officer Selim Khan was impressive. The writing of his character was pretty good apart from the writing of the lead characters. Indrajit Chakraborty as Joy delivers a good performance.

The emotional scenes were also well executed especially the one in the climax. The supporting cast including Anshu Bach, Rajat Ganguly, Biswajit Chakraborty, Biplab Chatterjee, Aritra Dutta Banik, Beas Dhar, Kharaj Mukherjee, Kamalika Banerjee provided good support.

The music composition by Rajesh Roy was another strong aspect of "Wanted," especially the songs Koro Selam, Cholo Kheli Prem Prem, & Aaha were impressive.

The story writing by Anonno Mamun and the dialogue writing by Poulomi Bhowmik were mostly impressive. Selva Kumar Prasad’s cinematography looked good but the editing by Rabiranjan Maitra could have been improved reducing another 10-15 minutes.

We can say the film Wanted and the year 2010 gifted us the action hero Jeet. Before this film, he was mostly featured in romantic drama films and romantic comedy films but after this film in the same year he was featured in 2 more action films "Josh" and "Dui Prithibi."

Thereafter he kept focusing mostly on action comedy and action drama films and till date he worked on some notable action films including "Shotru," "Fighter: Hoy Marbo Noy Morbo," "Boss: Born to Rule," "Game: He Plays to Win," "Power," "Awara," "Boss 2: Back to Rule," "Sultan: The Saviour," "Raavan," "Chengiz," & "Manush: Child of Destiny."
