On February 27, 2024, Klikk unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming web series, Shaktirupenn. Directed by Surajit Mukherjee, this crime thriller stars Basabdatta Chatterjee and Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh in the lead roles and
Amlan Majumder, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Swarnakamal Dutta, Sukanya Basu Sarkar, Papiya Dey, Rana Mukherjee, Ankur Roy, and Soumen Dutta in the supporting roles. The web series will premiere on Klikk this March.
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute trailer provides a glimpse into the plot, which revolves around criminal activities in Sutia. Between 1999 and 2001, a total of 200 girls were raped, with 79 incidents occurring within just 40 days.
Basabdatta Chatterjee portrays Damayanti, a character determined to fight against the injustice inflicted upon women. However, Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh's character is reluctant to involve her in these dangerous endeavors. Will Damayanti succeed in challenging a powerful system to bring justice to women?
The story is based on true events, and the background score adds to the trailer's intensity. Audiences eagerly anticipate how Surajit Mukherjee will execute this gripping crime thriller.
"Shaktirupenn" marks Basabdatta Chatterjee's debut in Bengali web series. It also brings Basabdatta Chatterjee and Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh together on screen for the first time.
The series features Amlan Majumder, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Swarnakamal Dutta, Sukanya Basu Sarkar, Papiya Dey, Rana Mukherjee, Ankur Roy, and Soumen Dutta in pivotal roles.
Sourav Banerjee handles the cinematography, Joy Duttagupta composes the music and Babi crafts the background score. Koustav Sarkar edits the web series.
Basabdatta Chatterjee has previously appeared in "Rawkto Rawhoshyo," "Tokhon Kuyasha Chilo," "Chupkatha," "Abhijaan," and "Torulatar Bhoo," among others.
