The movie will be released in theatres on 18th March 2022. Earlier it was scheduled for a release on 31st July 2020, but owing to the pandemic the makers had to postpone it. Later it was again rescheduled to be released on 25th June 2021 but again it got canceled.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Director Karan Malhotra’s Maiden Collaboration:
On the special occasion of actor Ranbir Kapoor’s 39th birthday, the makers have released the first look poster of his upcoming movie “Shamshera”, directed by Karan Malhotra. The movie will be bankrolled by Yash Raj Films production.
“Shamshera”, the period action-adventure film marks Karan Malhotra’s third directorial movie and his maiden with actor Ranbir Kapoor. This is the first time the actor will portray a double role character in his career. Music directors Mithoon & Ajay-Atul will compose the songs of “Shamshera”.
Sanjay Dutt will play the character of the main villain in this movie, while Vaani Kapoor will play the character of a dancer. “Shamshera” marks the 3rd collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor & Yash Raj Films after “Bachna Ae Haseeno” in 2008 & “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year” in 2009.
Ranbir Kapoor made his Bollywood with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie “Saawariya” in 2007 co-starring Sonam Kapoor.
He was last seen in director Rajkumar Hirani's movie “Sanju” which was a biopic of Sanjay Dutt. He will be also seen in “Brahmastra” and an untitled movie by Luv Ranjan.
Actress Vaani Kapoor was last seen in director Ranjit M Tewari’s movie “Bell Bottom” opposite Akshay Kumar. She will be also seen in director Abhishek Kapoor’s upcoming movie “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.
Sanjay Dutt was last seen in director Abhishek Dudhaiya’s war drama “Bhuj: The Pride of India” starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role. His upcoming movies are Prithviraj, K.G.F: Chapter 2, The Good Maharaja.
