Maradonar Juto (2021) Review: Story & Performances
Bengalis and their love for Football is not anything new. We recently watched the movie “Tiki Taka” based on Bengalis’ love for Football.
But we might have not heard about the obsession with a Footballer’s shoes. Yes,
that is what we have seen in Hoichoi’s "Maradonar Juto" web series. Two Bengali families
in North Kolkata are fighting with each other over the greatest Argentinian footballer
Maradona’s shoes.
Abinash Dutta(Joydeep Mukherjee) & Abibash Chowdhury(Sujan
Mukhopadhyay) who were once friends now fighting almost every day just for Maradona’s
shoes. This fight ended the relationship between Abinash’s brother Animesh(Anirban
Chakraborti) & Abibash’s sister Shakuntala(Moyna Mukherjee).
Abinash’s daughter Hiya(Susmita Chatterjee) & Abibash’s
son Ronodeep(Amartya Roy) also hates each other due to this. Both of them want the
other piece of the shoe from the opposition’s house. Hiya & Ronodeep fell
for each other and every time they end up being intimate. Ronodeep is a
Photographer by profession & is guided and assisted by his friend Sam(Ujan
Chatterjee).
Animesh & Shakuntala are still unmarried and every day they
meet on the rooftop to keep their romantic life active. Whenever they meet we
hear “Chokh Tule Dekho Na” Song from Prasenjit Chatterjee-Rituparna Sengupta starrer
movie Sasurbari Zindabad in the background.
Director Mainak Bhaumik includes almost everything to make
the series enjoyable to the audience. You will get the solid and fun-filled family
drama, romance, and occasionally Anupam Roy’s music in the background and whatnot.
The screenplay and dialogues were quite good and Savvy’s music was also decent.
The characters of Amartya Roy & Susmita Chatterjee did not get much focus which was needed. Susmita Chatterjee was highly impressive in Prem Tame but failed to leave a good impact here. Anirban Chakraborti & Moyna Mukherjee's romance was the highlight of this series. I might be a little biased on Anirban Chakraborti’s acting but believe me, he is one of the most talented actors in Tollywood at the moment. Sujan Mukhopadhyay & Joydeep Mukherjee were just
hilarious throughout their appearance.
Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee also did well as Sexologist Nachu
De. His hilarious dialogue "Ami Nachu De Kothao Jaina" will make you laugh for hours. His performance in Nokol Heere was also outstanding. Ujan Chatterjee also
provided a valuable contribution through his character Sam. If you are looking
for a fresh family drama series then add it to your watchlist.
