The Big Bull Movie Review: Story & Performances
We got an overview of The Big Bull movie from its trailer.
People who have watched Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story were seen
comparing these two on social media.
I think that there should not be any comparison between
these two. I will give a brief about these two at the end of this article.
The story of The Big Bull revolves around Hemant Shah(Abhishek
Bachchan) who lives in a Chawl in Mumbai with his family including his brother(Soham
Shah) and mother(Supriya Pathak). He belongs to a middle-class family and runs
his family with the salary he receives from his job.
His life took a turn when he decided to save his brother from
creditors. His girlfriend Priya’s(Nikita Dutta) father was also looking for a
rich guy to fix her wedding.
That is when he decided to come into the stock market. In a
very short period, he became rich and ruled the stock market.
His popularity also earned him many enemies in the market. Journalist
Meera Rao(Ileana D’cruz) came to know about his tactics and published an
article in the newspaper claiming the man Hemant Shah was a liar.
It looks like director Kookie Gulati made this movie assuming
that people are already aware of the original story of India’s biggest
financial scam and he skipped many vital areas in the story.
The dialogues of this crime-drama film were also very
ordinary and uninspiring. The lack of romance between Hemant and Priya also
didn’t go unnoticed.
Abhishek Bachchan attempted quite well for his character of a
stock market messiah but as we have already seen Pratik Gandhi doing it
beautifully the expectation from him was higher.
We have seen him recently delivering some stellar
performances in Ludo and Breathe: Into The Shadows.
Among others, only Ram Kapoor played an effective role
during his short appearance in this movie.
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story was a web series where
we got to see the whole story in detail but The Big Bull being a movie failed
in the detailing part.
Also, I was in awe of Pratik Gandhi’s acting and Hansal Mehta’s direction in the series but here neither Abhishek Bachchan nor Kookie Gulati was up to their mark.
