JL 50 Web series Story & Performances:
Sci-fi thrillers are always considered as one of the most loved films
genres. A passenger plane AO 26 was hijacked and another plane JL 50 crashed
near Bagdogra, West Bengal. A CBI Officer Shantanu (played by Abhay Deol) and
his colleague Gourango (played by Rajesh Sharma) were asked to investigate this
mysterious plane crash.
After checking the passenger list they came to know about Professor
Subroto Das (played by Pankaj Kapur) had purchased the ticket that time but
did not board on that plane. While interrogating Das, he informed that the incident took place 35 years back so it was quite impossible for him to remember
that specific reason.
Shantanu visited the
Morgue to see the dead people of that plane crash then he also went to the
hospital to check the conditions of two survivors Bhiu (played by Ritika Anand)
and Professor Biswajit Mitra (played by Piyush Mishra) from that plane crash.
The hijacker of AO 26 plane has demanded the release of
their leader Partho Majumder (played by Mrinal Mukherjee). After the
conversation with Shantanu, Professor Das rushed in hurry and burned some
documents along with a photo of Professor Mitra & him.
Shantanu was not having a great relationship with his wife Shivparna
(played by Amrita Chatterjee). She informed him about going to Mumbai for her
new job purpose. Shantanu met Bihu who was also the pilot of that plane to ask
about the actual incident and few questions. Bihu informed him of everything but
he was not convinced with the story. When Shantanu informed her that plane’s last
take-off time was nearly 35 years back, Bihu thought he was lying.
Shantanu& Gourango met with Dr. Bikram Chakraborty to
get some information about Bihu and they identified from an old picture that the
survivor was Bihu. After getting some clues they suspected that someone named
Chandra might be involved in hijacking the JL 50 plane 35 years back. They also
came to know that Professor Biswajit Mitra was that person Chandra.
After some serious investigation, they get the knowledge of
time travel and also the information that Professor Das had assisted Professor Mitra,
35 years back for quite some time. Without wasting any time Shantanu went to Professor
Das to know the truth, where he informed about the time travel factor.
Director Shailender Vyas deserves some appreciation for
trying his best to give us a completely different and enjoyable series during
this Pandemic. To make this story more intriguing he added a twist in the
climax which was quite good. The shooting locations were mainly in West Bengal
which was perfect for this classic mystery.
Abhay Deol has made his digital debut quite significant choosing
a great piece of content and provided a solid performance throughout the
series. Pankaj Kapur and Piyush Mishra both did full justice to the given
characters by putting their best efforts. Rest of the casts Rajesh Sharma, Amrita
Chatterjee, Saswati Guha, Pujarani Ghosh, Mrinal Mukherjee, Barun Chand provided
good support which made this series worth watching.
