On 25th June 2024, Hoichoi unveiled the official poster of their upcoming web series Bijoya. The series, directed by Sayantan Ghosal, stars Swastika Mukherjee, Debdutta Raha, and Shaheb Chattopadhyay in the lead roles and will premiere on Hoichoi on 5th July 2024.
In the official poster, Swastika Mukherjee is seen dressed in traditional attire with a serious expression. The background seems to depict a crowd scene, possibly a protest or rally, with people holding signs and banners, though the text on the signs is not clearly legible.
Hoichoi announced the series on 17th June 2024 with a 3-minute 17-second video where we can see Swastika Mukherjee playing the role of a mother who is sometimes shouting at her co-star, while at other moments she is guiding the co-star sweetly. She is also seen taking care of the lunch for the shooting unit, who are busy throughout the day.
The story of "Bijoya" is based on a true incident of a student’s ragging at Jadavpur University and how his mother fights against the system to get justice for her son.
Sayantan Ghosal has previously gifted us web series like "Indu," "Gora," and Sampurna, and expectations are quite high this time as "Bijoya" marks the maiden collaboration between Swastika Mukherjee and Sayantan Ghosal.
Previously, Swastika Mukherjee played the role of a mother in "Mohomaya," and this year her only project released was "Bijoyar Pore." Hoichoi and Sayantan Ghosal last collaborated on Sampurna 2.
Swastika Mukherjee will also be featured in Srijit Mukherji’s "Tekka." Debdutta Raha previously appeared in web series like "Bodhon" and "Indubala Bhaater Hotel." Shaheb Chattopadhyay was last seen in "Datta" last year.
