On the special occasion of Director Puri Jagannadh's birthday, celebrated on September 28, 2023, a captivating new poster for his upcoming directorial project, "Double iSmart," was unveiled. This poster prominently features Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt, and the director himself, all dressed in stylish attire and brandishing double-barrel guns.

This film serves as the sequel to the 2019 hit "iSmart Shankar," a creation written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. In the original, Ram Pothineni portrayed the titular character, with Satyadev, Nabha Natesh, and Nidhhi Agerwal delivering notable performances. "iSmart Shankar" was exclusively released in Telugu and achieved an impressive box office collection of over Rs 80 crores.

"Double iSmart" marks a significant milestone as it signifies Sanjay Dutt's debut in Telugu cinema, where he will take on a negative role. He made a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan starring action film Jawan this year and is also set to make his debut in Tamil cinema with Leo featuring Vijay. Additionally, Sanjay Dutt is set to debut in Punjabi cinema with "Sheran Di Kaum Punjabi".

The eagerly anticipated "Double iSmart" is slated for a Pan-India release in theaters on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, falling on March 8, 2024. It will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. The film is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under their banner, Puri Connects. The announcement of the female lead for this film is yet to be made.

Puri Jagannadh is renowned for his charismatic storytelling in the realm of masala entertainers, having delivered blockbuster hits such as "Pokiri," "Businessman," "Temper," "Iddarammayilatho," and "Chirutha," among others. His distinctive style of filmmaking has resonated with audiences over the years, consistently delivering memorable cinematic experiences.

However, his previous directorial venture, Liger featuring Vijay Deverakonda in his Hindi film debut, did not meet high box office expectations. The film earned a total of Rs 56.18 Crores worldwide, falling short of the anticipated success that typically accompanies Puri Jagannadh's projects.

This year, Ram Pothineni's sole film release was "Skanda," a directorial project by Boyapati Sreenu. The movie had a Pan-India release on September 28, 2023, across theaters in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
