Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3): Akshay Kumar surprises fans on his birthday
On 9th September 2023, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar marked his 56th birthday with a special announcement through his social media handle. He confirmed that his upcoming movie, titled Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3) and directed by Ahmed Khan, is set to hit theaters on 20th December 2024.
This film is the 3rd installment in the popular "Welcome" franchise, produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Firoz A Nadiadwallah. The franchise's first installment, directed by Anees Bazmee, featured a star-studded cast including Feroz Khan, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat. It was released in 2007 and raked in more than Rs 100 crores at the box office.
The second installment, also directed by Anees Bazmee, starred Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Ankita Srivastava, Dimple Kapadia, and Naseeruddin Shah. Akshay Kumar made a cameo appearance in this one, and the film earned more than Rs 150 crores.
Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3): Akshay Kumar & Suniel Shetty together after 12 years
Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3) marks a special reunion as it brings Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty back together after a hiatus of 12 years. This iconic Bollywood duo has collaborated on numerous successful projects in the past, including "Mohra," "Hera Pheri," "Dhadkan," "Phir Hera Pheri," "De Dana Dan," "Hum Hain Bemisal," "Sapoot," "Thank You," "Awara Paagal Deewana," "Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani," and Deewane Huye Paagal. Notably, "Mohra," "Hera Pheri," "Dhadkan," and "Phir Hera Pheri" were blockbuster hits. Their last on-screen pairing was in "Thank You," released in 2011.
In addition to Welcome 3, Akshay Kumar had two releases this year. A comedy-drama action film Selfiee, failed to perform at the box office, while the comedy-drama film OMG 2, fared well and grossed over Rs 200 crores.
On 7th September 2023, the actor also shared a teaser for his upcoming project, "Mission Raniganj." He is set to feature in other forthcoming films such as "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," "Hera Pheri 3," "Sky Force," and "Shankara".
Director Ahmed Khan, whose previous film "Heropanti 2" faced box office disappointment, is likely aiming to redeem himself with this new comedy-drama film.

Another exciting aspect of this upcoming film is the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon after a gap of 19 years.
