Veeramae Vaagai Soodum Movie Review: Story

Purushottam a.k.a. Porus(Vishal) lives with his family including his father(G. Marimuthu) who is a constable, his mother(Thulasi) who is a housewife, and his only sister Dwaraka (Raveena Ravi) who is studying in a college. Two other people are also there in Porus’s life, his girlfriend Mythili (Dimple Hayathi) & his friend (Yogi Babu). Porus is preparing to join the police force soon & Mythili works in a bank.

Dwaraka faces harassment from one of the local gangsters’ brother Guna. And when it became intolerable she attempted suicide. A few boys were blackmailing another girl from the college named Divya with her obscene video. Divya was targeted by those boys but unfortunately, Dwaraka became their victim and was killed.

Can Porus find the killers of her sister? Can Porus become a police officer? The story slowly unfolds and we get these answers in the climax.

Performance & Analysis

The bonding between Vishal and action movies is getting stronger with each movie. The screen presence of Vishal is the only reason to keep you hooked to your seats. His previous movies like Action, Chakra, and Enemy didn’t disappoint the audience but Veeramae Vaagai Soodum somehow failed to keep that record unaffected.

If we compare Vishal’s last 4 four films’ Box Office collection then we can see Action has collected Rs. 44.6 crores, Chakra has collected Rs. 65 crores from the theatrical release, and Enemy has collected Rs. 20.02 crore but the Box office collection of Veeramae Vaagai Soodum was Rs. 18 crore.

Actor like Yogi Babu didn’t get sufficient focus in the script. The script loses its focus in crucial moments and the chemistry between Vishal and Dimple Hayathi didn’t work either. Editing by N. B. Srikanth, Cinematography by Kavin Raj & music by Yuvan Shankar Raja were the other highlights of the movie.

Final Words

Director Thu Pa Saravanan focused too much on Vishal’s character but forgot to develop other crucial characters in the story. Veeramae Vaagai Soodum is an average action drama movie that is okay for a one-time watch.
