Mithun Chakraborty played Balwant Yadav, also known as Ballu, while Meenakshi Seshadri played Meena Kapoor. Aandhi-Toofan was a typical 1980s action entertainer, packed with drama, romance and action. It marked the beginning of the on-screen association between Mithun and Meenakshi.

Mithun Chakraborty played Birju Madari, while Meenakshi Seshadri played Anita.
With its family-oriented storyline, Parivaar was different in tone from some of their earlier action films and gave both actors a more dramatic setting. Their next collaboration came in 1988 with the grand multi-starrer Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswathi, released on 23 December.
Directed by Manmohan Desai, the film had music composed by Anu Malik. Meenakshi Seshadri played Jamuna, while Mithun Chakraborty played Shankar Qawaal. The film featured an impressive ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Meenakshi Seshadri and Mithun Chakraborty. Unlike some of their earlier films together, this was a large-scale multi-starrer in which their characters were part of a much bigger story.
In 1989, the two actors appeared together again in Bees Saal Baad, released on 3 February. Directed by Rajkumar Kohli, the film featured music by Laxmikant–Pyarelal. Mithun Chakraborty played Suraj, while Meenakshi Seshadri played Kiran Thakur.
Bees Saal Baad was a horror thriller and was part of the tradition of Hindi films built around the mysterious and suspenseful Bees Saal Baad concept. The pair returned to the screen together in 1990 with Pyar Ka Karz, released on 2 March.
Directed by K. Bapaiah, the film had music composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal. Mithun Chakraborty played Ravi Shankar, while Meenakshi Seshadri played Doctor Naina.
Pyar Ka Karz combined romance, action and drama, once again bringing Mithun and Meenakshi together in prominent roles. And interestingly, the eighth film in this list was also released on 2 March 1990.
Shandaar was directed by Vinod Dewan, with music composed by Bappi Lahiri. Mithun Chakraborty played Shankar, while Meenakshi Seshadri played Rani.
