Prosenjit Chatterjee’s Daktar Kaku Explores Money vs Human Life

The wait for Prosenjit Chatterjee’s Daktar Kaku is finally coming to an end, but this film has taken quite a long journey to reach the big screen. Daktar Kaku is directed by Pavel and stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ena Saha and Riddhi Sen in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on 18 September 2026.

The project began with its mahuraat in 2021, but due to various reasons, its release was delayed for several years. Now, after a long wait, the film is finally scheduled to arrive in cinemas. The newly unveiled poster gives us an interesting idea about what the film is trying to explore.

In the poster, Prosenjit Chatterjee is seen as a doctor, wearing medical scrubs with a stethoscope around his neck. But the most striking element is the giant weighing scale placed in front of him. On one side of the scale, we see stacks of money, while the other side features a patient lying on a hospital bed. This creates a powerful visual contrast between money and human life.

The background also features a hospital, a cityscape and crowds of people, while several paper planes can be seen flying across the sky. Together, these elements give the poster a broader social and human dimension. The central theme of the film appears to revolve around healthcare, money and human life.

Prosenjit Chatterjee’s character seems to be a doctor who believes that treating patients and saving lives should be the primary responsibility of the medical profession. The film is expected to explore what happens when this belief comes into conflict with financial interests and exploitation within the healthcare system.

Daktar Kaku is the fifth directorial venture of Pavel, who has been working in the film industry for over a decade. He made his directorial debut with Babar Naam Gandhiji in 2015 and subsequently directed Rosogolla, Asur and Kolkata Chalantika. This makes Daktar Kaku his fifth film as a director.

The film marks the first collaboration between Prosenjit Chatterjee and Pavel, while Pavel is also working with Ena Saha and Riddhi Sen for the first time. The film has been produced by Banani Saha and Ena Saha and presented by Metatron Productions. Prosenjit Chatterjee was last seen in Abhhimaan, directed by Indraadip Dasgupta.
