The much-awaited trailer of Awarapan 2 was finally released by Vishesh Films on 6 August 2026. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles, with Puran Gabbi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Atul Kumar and Aniruddh Rawal in crucial roles.
The trailer deliberately keeps the plot under wraps and does not reveal much about the story. Instead, it focuses heavily on Shivam’s intense persona and a handful of action sequences, which look slick and promising.
The trailer hints at a dark saga of vengeance, redemption, pain and inner conflict without giving away the major twists. This approach could work in the film’s favour, especially because Awarapan has developed a strong cult following over the years.
The original 2007 film, directed by Mohit Suri, became particularly memorable for its emotional storyline, Emraan Hashmi’s performance and its much-loved music. Awarapan 2 therefore comes with considerable expectations, and it will be interesting to see whether Nitin Kakkar can live up to the legacy of the original and deliver a sequel that connects with both old fans and a new generation of viewers.
The film also marks Nitin Kakkar’s maiden collaboration with Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. Awarapan 2 is his sixth directorial venture after Filmistaan, Mitron, Notebook, Jawaani Jaaneman and Ram Singh Charlie.
Considering Nitin Kakkar’s previous films, which have largely explored genres such as comedy, drama and coming-of-age stories, Awarapan 2 will be his first major attempt at the action genre. It will therefore be interesting to see how he handles the film’s action, intensity and darker world, and whether he can bring his own directorial style to a franchise known for its emotional depth and intense storytelling.
The film marks the first on-screen collaboration between Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. It also features Aniruddh Rawal, son of veteran actor Paresh Rawal, in a prominent role.
Puran Gabbi, who plays the antagonist Zorawar, is the brother of actress Wamiqa Gabbi. He is also known by his full name Haardik Puran Gabbi. His earlier credits include Zero, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Black Warrant; however, his credit in Zero was in the additional crew department rather than as an actor.
Awarapan 2 is produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films is scheduled to release in cinemas on 14 August 2026. The music of Awarapan 2 features composers including Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Jeet Ganguly and Akhil Sachdeva, with the soundtrack also drawing heavily on the musical nostalgia associated with the original film. Two popular songs from Awarapan, “Tera Mera Rishta” and “Toh Phir Aao”, have also been recreated for the sequel.
Manushi Chhillar was reportedly considered for the female lead before Disha Patani was eventually selected, Overall, the Awarapan 2 trailer looks promising because it chooses not to reveal the entire story.
The action, Emraan Hashmi’s intense screen presence and the nostalgic connection with the original Awarapan create curiosity. But with the first film having achieved cult status over the years, the biggest question remains: can Nitin Kakkar recreate the emotional impact and musical magic that made Awarapan so memorable?
