The date 20 July 2018 holds a very special place in Janhvi Kapoor's career, as it marks the theatrical release of her debut film, Dhadak. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the romantic drama featured Ishaan Khatter opposite Janhvi Kapoor and proved to be a dream launch for the actress. The film received a positive response from both audiences and critics, emerged as a commercial success at the box office, and established Janhvi as one of Bollywood's most promising newcomers.
Following her successful debut, Janhvi showcased her versatility by taking on a wide range of characters across different genres. In Ghost Stories (2020), she appeared in Zoya Akhtar's segment, while the same year she earned critical acclaim for portraying Indian Air Force officer Gunjan Saxena in the biographical drama Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
