National Award–winning actress and director Revathi has shared a unique on-screen journey with Salman Khan. She first worked with him as a leading lady and later went on to direct him in a film, an achievement that remains extremely rare.
Revathi made her Bollywood debut in 1991 with Love, directed by Suresh Krissna. In this film, she starred opposite Salman Khan. While Love received critical appreciation for its emotional narrative and performances, it failed to succeed at the box office. Made on a budget of around ₹2.30 crore, the film managed to collect approximately ₹1.80 crore in India.
Years later, Revathi stepped into direction and made her Bollywood directorial debut with Phir Milenge in 2004. The film featured Salman Khan alongside Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. Much like her debut film, Phir Milenge was critically acclaimed but did not perform well commercially. Made on a budget of around ₹5.5 crore, it earned approximately ₹2.49 crore at the Indian box office.
Despite its box office outcome, Phir Milenge was widely praised for its sensitive subject and powerful performances. Shilpa Shetty delivered one of the finest performances of her career, earning widespread acclaim along with nominations for Best Actress at major award platforms such as Filmfare, IIFA, Screen, and Zee Cine Awards. Abhishek Bachchan was also appreciated for his performance and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Zee Cine Awards.
As of 2026, Revathi remains the only actress and director who has both appeared as an on-screen pair opposite Salman Khan and also directed him in a film where he played the lead role.
