Sajid Khan's directorial comedy drama film Housefull completed 15 years. Starring Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, and Jiah Khan in lead roles, this star-studded film was released in theatres on 30th April 2010.
The film was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Sandeep Chowta under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and distributed by Eros International. The story was penned by Sajid Nadiadwala, with screenplay by Milap Zaveri, Sajid Khan, and Vibha Singh, and dialogues written by Anvita Dutt.
This film is based on the Tamil hit Kadhala Kadhala, written by Crazy Mohan and directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. The film marked director Sajid Khan's 2nd collaboration with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Boman Irani after Heyy Babyy.
The original Tamil version starred Kamal Haasan, Prabhu Deva, Soundarya, and Rambha in pivotal roles. With a budget of ₹30 crore, this film turned into a massive commercial hit, raking in an estimated ₹120 crore at the box office and became the 5th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2010
This film marked the beginning of the Housefull franchise. Following its success, sequels Housefull 2 (2012), Housefull 3 (2016), and Housefull 4 (2019) were released. The latest installment, Housefull 5, is set to release in theatres on 6th June 2025.
Housefull marked 3rd directorial venture of Sajid Khan after Darna Zaroori Hai and Heyy Babyy. Vikas Sivaraman handled the cinematography of this film, marking his maiden collaboration with director Sajid Khan.

Housefull marked the 2nd collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone after Chandni Chowk to China in 2009. At the Stardust Awards, Akshay Kumar was honored with the Star of the Year – Male award, while Arjun Rampal won the Best Supporting Actor award for their outstanding performances in this film.
