Gunasekhar's directorial romantic sports action film Okkadu has been scheduled to be released in theatres on 26th April 2025. The film starring Mahesh Babu, Bhumika Chawla, and Prakash Raj, in the lead roles, was released in theatres on the 15th of January 2003.
The film was produced by M. S. Raju under the banner of Sumanth Art Productions. Gunasekhar has written the story and screenplay while Paruchuri Brothers have written the dialogues of this film.
Okkadu was later remade into Tamil as Ghilli (2004), Kannada as Ajay (2006), and Bengali as Jor (2008). The film was remade twice in Bangladesh as Dapot (2006) and Bolona Kobul (2009), in Odia as Mate Aanidela Lakhe Phaguna (2008), in Hindi as Tevar (2015), and in Sinhala as Kabaddi (2021).
Okkadu marked 7th directorial venture of Gunasekhar. He made his directorial debut with the romantic action film Laati starring Prashanth, Samyuktha Singh, and Raghuvaran. A. Sreekar Prasad edited this film marking his 2nd collaboration with director Gunasekhar after Manoharam.
