On 22nd February 2025, Vikram Chatterjee officially announced the wrap-up of shooting for his much-anticipated family drama Raas: Hariye Jawa Bangalider Golpo. Helmed by Tathagata Mukherjee, the film brings together Vikram Chatterjee in the lead role, with Devlina Kumar as his co-star.
This film reunites Vikram Chatterjee with director Tathagata Mukherjee for the second time, following the success of their action thriller Pariah: Vol 1. The film produced by Chhobir Moto Entertainment marks the maiden collaboration between Vikram Chatterjee and Devlina Kumar
Tathagata Mukherjee penned the story, while he and Antara Mukhopadhyay co-wrote the screenplay and dialogues. Additional dialogues were written by Samragnee Bandyopadhyay.
The film features a large ensemble cast, with key roles played by Anirban Chakrabarti, Anashua Majumdar, Ranojoy Bishnu, Arna Mukhopadhyay, Sudip Mukherjee,
Debaprasad Halder, Parijat Chowdhury, Shankar Debnath, and Apratim Chatterjee. Raas follows the journey of Somnath (Vikram Chatterjee), who is set to marry Sanjh (Devlina Kumar) and leave the country for a promising future.
However, upon returning to his ancestral home in Manikpur after years, he finds himself rediscovering his roots and rekindling past relationships. Alongside its central narrative, the film sheds light on the fading essence of joint families, reminding us of the love and togetherness they bring.
It also beautifully captures the grandeur of Raas Purnima, making it an integral part of the storytelling. Vikram Chatterjee is proving his mettle in Bengali cinema, pushing boundaries with every project. Whether experimenting with genres or anchoring entire films, his dedication speaks volumes.
With Omorshongi marking his latest release, and promising projects like Durgapur Junction, Mrigaya: The Hunt, and Pariah 2 on the horizon, he seems well on his way to delivering more box-office successes.
