David Dhawan's directorial action comedy film Judwaa completed 28 years. The film was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
The film, starring Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Rambha in the lead roles, was released in theatres on 7th February 1997. Dalip Tahil, Reema Lagoo, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Bindu, Anupam Kher, and Tiku Talsania appeared in crucial roles in this film.
The film, made on a budget of around Rs 6 crores, achieved a box office collection of around Rs 24 crores and became the 9th highest-grossing Hindi film of 1997. Judwaa is the remake of Director E. V. V. Satyanarayana's action comedy film Hello Brother starring Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishnan, and Soundarya.
The film marked director David Dhawan's maiden collaboration with Salman Khan and Rambha. Judwaa marked the 19th directorial venture of David Dhawan. He made his directorial debut in 1989 with the action film Taaqatwar starring Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Anita Raj, and Neelam.
