Srijit Roy's directorial mystery thriller web series Bishohori was released on Hoichoi on 14th February 2025. The series stars Solanki Roy as the female lead and Rohan Bhattacharjee as the male lead.
Shankar Chakraborty, Koushik Roy, Moyna Mukherjee, Sumit Samadder, and Animesh Bhaduri, appeared in significant roles in this series. Newlywed Rajnandini (Solanki Roy) steps into her in-laws' ancestral home, only to face eerie secrets and unexpected deaths of family members.
She stands against superstition, determined to expose the truth. Solanki Roy anchors the series, brilliantly embodying a new bride who defies superstition with curiosity and reason—her performance demands attention.
Koushik Roy impresses with his nuanced portrayal, making full use of a well-written character. He deserved a bit more time to showcase his talent. Rohan Bhattacharjee shines in the last three episodes but lacks sufficient scope in the first three.
Shankar Chakraborty, Moyna Mukherjee, Sumit Samadder, and Animesh Bhaduri handle their roles effectively, delivering believable performances. Nabarun Bose enhances the series with his well-composed music and background score.
Bishohori shares its core theme with Sayantan Ghosal’s Indu but stands apart in execution and presentation. The incorporation of mythological references is particularly impressive. Souvik Chakraborty crafts a compelling story, while Sreejib enhances it with an engaging screenplay and dialogues.
Ramyadip Saha’s cinematography and Subhajit Singha’s sharp editing keep the series gripping. Srijit Roy’s skillful direction brings the series to life, making it a compelling watch. The lack of emotional depth weakens the impact, as the narrative rushes through deaths without letting them sink in.
The gradual transformation of Rajnandini's character from a skeptic to a believer is skillfully executed. The ending hints at Rajnandini’s return to solve more mysterious cases in the future.
