Sonu Sood's directorial action thriller film Fateh starring Sonu Sood and Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz was released in theatres on 10th January 2025.
Written by Sonu Sood and Ankur Pajni, with cinematography by Vincenzo Condorelli, editing by Yash Parikh and Chandrashekhar Prajapati, and a background score composed by John Stewart Eduri and Hans Zimmer.
Sonu Sood stars as Fateh Singh, a former secret agent turned dairy farmer in Punjab. His peaceful life is disrupted when a village girl, Nimrit Kaur (Shiv Jyoti Rajput), falls victim to a global cybercrime scam led by Raza (Naseeruddin Shah) and Satya Prakash.
Teaming up with ethical hacker Khushi Sharma (Jacqueline Fernandez), Fateh embarks on a mission to rescue Nimrit and take down the syndicate.
While Fateh boasts edgy action and Sonu Sood's cutthroat energy, the basic CGI and unconvincing effects weaken the impact. Several scenes feel gratuitous, with violence that lacks purpose, including one that seems inspired by Ranbir Kapoor starring Animal.
Jacqueline Fernandes’s character adds little to the script, and her performance fails to leave a lasting impression. It’s baffling that an actor of Naseeruddin Shah’s caliber would opt for a role with such minimal influence on the storyline.
It’s disappointing to see gifted actors like Vijay Raaz and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, playing Satya Prakash and Nishit Biswas, go entirely underutilized.
While Vincenzo Condorelli’s cinematography and the editing by Yash Parikh and Chandrashekhar Prajapati are adequate, the background score by John Stewart Eduri and Hans Zimmer elevates just a handful of action sequences.
Sonu Sood's directorial debut Fateh features his impressive performance and a few noteworthy action sequences, but the rest of the departments fall short.
