On 5th August 2024, Hoichoi unveiled the official trailer of their upcoming web series Parineeta, directed by Aditi Roy. Gaurav Chakrabarty as Shekhar and Debchandrima Singha Roy as Lalita will portray the lead roles in this series. The story of this series has been adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel with the same title. Parineeta will premiere on Hoichoi on 15th August 2024.
The 2-minute 10-second trailer begins with Lalita (Debchandrima Singha Roy) narrating the story of 1905 when the whole of Bengal was against the partition of Bengal. Lalita feels a commotion in her heart for Shekhar's love. Lalita and Shekhar revisit some of their priceless moments together. Shekhar asks Lalita, "How did Girin (Arpan Ghoshal) leave you alone?"
The on-screen chemistry between Gaurav Chakrabarty and Debchandrima Singha Roy is enjoyable in this trailer and seems to be the most important aspect of this series. Indraadip Das Gupta’s music and background score also look impressive in the trailer. It will also be interesting to watch Arpan Ghoshal’s performance as Girin.
Lokenath Dey, Pushpita Mukherjee, Debdut Ghosh, and Mimi Dutta will portray crucial roles in this series. The screenplay and dialogues of this series have been written by Sarbari Ghoshal. Ramyadip Saha is the DOP, Tanmoy Chakraborty is the art director, and Subhajit Singha has edited the series. The makers unveiled the official poster of this series on July 28, 2024.
Previously, there have been multiple adaptations of this novel in various languages at different times. Out of those adaptations, I liked three: Director Bimal Roy's 1953 adaptation featuring Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari in the lead roles; Director Ajoy Kar's 1969 adaptation with Soumitra Chatterjee and Moushumi Chatterjee; and Director Pradeep Sarkar's 2005 adaptation starring Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan.
