Babli (2024) Bengali Movie Trailer: Abir Chatterjee & Subhashree Ganguly’s On-Screen Chemistry Looks Impressive

On August 3, 2024, Raj Chakraborty Entertainment unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming romantic drama, Babli, directed by Raj Chakraborty. The film, starring Subhashree Ganguly, Abir Chatterjee, and Sauraseni Maitra, is an official adaptation of Buddhadeb Guha's novel. It will be released in theaters on August 15, 2024.

The two-and-a-half-minute trailer reveals that Abhi (played by Abir Chatterjee) has been assigned the task of driving Babli, also known as Damayanti (played by Subhashree Ganguly), to Dimapur in his jeep. Babli is self-conscious about her weight and dislikes authors because they do not write about chubby girls like her.

During the journey, Babli unexpectedly meets her college friend, Jhuma Bose (played by Sauraseni Maitra), who is now an air hostess. The film will explore how Abhi and Babli fall in love during their adventurous trip to Dimapur and how Jhuma’s closeness to Abhi affects their relationship.

Abir Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly’s on-screen chemistry appears impressive in the trailer. This is the first time the two actors will be seen romancing on screen together. The film also features Kaushik Sen, Sohini Sengupta, and Rashmi Sen in crucial roles. Manas Ganguly's cinematography captures some stunning shots of Abir Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly.

The makers released a new poster for the trailer. In the poster, Abir Chatterjee is wearing a brown jacket with a high collar and has a backpack slung over his shoulder. He has a calm and focused expression. Subhashree Ganguly is dressed in a traditional outfit with a pink shawl draped over her shoulders. She has a pleasant expression with a slight smile, a red flower adorning her hair, and a watch visible on her left wrist.

The story of Babli was written by Buddhadeb Guha, with the screenplay by Raj Chakraborty and additional dialogues by Souvik Bhattacharya. Indraadip Dasgupta composed the music and background score, while Sanglap Bhowmik handled the editing.

Abir Chatterjee’s last release, Alaap, had a decent box office collection, and he will also be seen in a cop role in the upcoming thriller Bohurupi. Subhashree Ganguly is returning to the big screen after her last release, Doctor Bakshi, last year and she will be also featured in upcoming films like Santan, and Aleyar Bari. Raj Chakraborty’s direction, along with Abir Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly’s on-screen chemistry, are expected to be major attractions in this film.
