On 2nd July 2024, Director Srijit Mukherji confirmed the release date of his film Padatik, starring Chanchal Chowdhury in the lead role. The film is based on legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen’s life, and Korak Samanta, Monami Ghosh, and Samrat Chakraborty will portray crucial roles in it. Srijit Mukherji unveiled a new poster featuring Chanchal Chowdhury and Korak Samanta from different phases of Mrinal Sen's life.
The film is a joint venture of Friends Communication and Big Screen Production House and has been scheduled to be released in theatres on 15th August 2024. Monami Ghosh, marking her first collaboration with Srijit Mukherji, is playing the role of Mrinal Sen's wife, Gita Sen, in this film.
Indranath Marick is the DOP, Indraadip Dasgupta has composed the background score, while the music compositions are done by Rabindranath Thakur, Salil Chowdhury, and Kabir Suman. Tanmay Chakraborty is the art director, and Somnath Kundu is the makeup artist for this film.
Srijit Mukherji’s only film released this year was *Oti Uttam*, which was a box office blockbuster. His upcoming lineups include *Shotyi Bole Shotyi Kichhu Nei*, *Shekhar Home*, *Don-Boithok*, *Feludar Goyendagiri Season 2*, and *Tekka*.
