On 10th June 2024, Vyjayanthi Movies unveiled the official trailer of their upcoming sci-fi action film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film marks Nag Ashwin’s 4th directorial venture, and he has written the story and screenplay for this film, while Sai Madhav Burra has written the dialogues.
Prabhas as Bhairava, Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Deepika Padukone as Sumati, and Kamal Haasan as the antagonist Supreme Yaskin will portray the lead roles in this film. Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas, Brahmanandam as Rajan, and Pasupathy as Rajan will be seen in supporting roles.
The film was earlier supposed to be released in theatres on 9th May 2024 but got postponed. As per the latest update, the film has been scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide on 27th June 2024 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
The makers have already released the animated prelude titled Bujji and Bhairava on Amazon Prime Video on 31st May 2024 to provide an understanding of the world-building of The Kalki Cinematic Universe.
The 3-minute-long trailer gives us an idea about the plot of this film, where we can see people in the last city of the world, Kashi, dying without food and water. The complex, managed by Commander Manas (Saswata Chatterjee), controls the lives and fates of the people there, and they call Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) their God.
Deepika Padukone’s dialogue “Ek Jaan ke andar dusri jaan” clearly tells that she is expecting a child. Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) says, “Aapne apni garv mein ek bhagwan ko sthan diya hai, main bacha lunga,” indicating he is ready to save the child. Bhairava (Prabhas) has been tasked with capturing Deepika Padukone. Will Bhairava capture her or support Ashwatthama in saving her?
The VFX looks stunning in the trailer. Kamal Haasan’s look is a major highlight of this trailer. The face-off between Kamal Haasan and Prabhas will be interesting to watch. Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Saswata Chatterjee looked good in the trailer too. Brahmanandam appeared in one scene in this trailer. The background score was also impressive. Will Prabhas continue his successful run at the box office after Salaar Part 1? The response is massive so far, and it looks like the film is going to be one of the highest-grossing films of 2024. However, we will have to wait a bit more to know the result.
Djordje Stojilikovic is handling the cinematography, Santosh Narayanan is responsible for the music composition, and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is responsible for the editing of this film, which has been produced by C. Aswini Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt.
