Eta Amader Golpo Movie Review: Aparajita Adhya & Saswata Chatterjee’s On-Screen Chemistry is Enjoyable

Director Manasi Sinha's romantic drama film Eta Amader Golpo, starring Saswata Chatterjee and Aparajita Adhya in the lead roles, along with Sohag Sen, Kharaj Mukherjee, Koneenica Banerjee, Debdut Ghosh, Tarin Jahan, Arya Dasgupta, Amit Kanti Ghosh, and Puja Karmakar in supporting roles, was released in theaters on April 26, 2024.

The story revolves around Mr. Sharma (Saswata Chatterjee), who falls in love with the widowed Shreetama Debi (Aparajita Adhya). Initially, she ignores his proposal, but later accepts it. Will they be able to convince their families? Will Mr. Sharma and Shreetama Debi get married?

The concept of Eta Amader Golpo is fresh. Saswata Chatterjee as Mr. Sharma and Aparajita Adhya as Shreetama Debi delivered convincing performances, with enjoyable on-screen chemistry in many scenes. Kharaj Mukherjee and Debdut Ghosh also made good contributions with their limited screen time.

The music composition by Pranjal Das is another positive aspect of the film. Manasi Sinha did a decent job on her directorial debut. The climax, where Shreetama Debi makes a brave decision despite a tragic incident, is praiseworthy.

The film's first half is mostly engaging, but the poor screenplay in the second half disrupts the flow of the narrative. There is a lack of proper development in relationships, making the film emotionally weak. Talented actors like Sohag Sen, Koneenica Banerjee, Tarin Jahan, and Arya Dasgupta were underutilized. Also, the comedy scenes did not work well.

The relationship between Shreetama Debi and Mr. Sharma lacks proper development, which affects the organic feel of subsequent events. Shreetama Debi's relationships with her son and daughter-in-law were also not properly developed. Additionally, the emotional investment in the tragedy during the climax is lacking due to improper event portrayal.

Final Words:

Manasi Sinha's directorial debut Eta Amader Golpo is a decent one-time watch due to its fresh concept, Aparajita Adhya and Saswata Chatterjee's praiseworthy on-screen chemistry, and the impressive music composition by Pranjal Das.
