Criminals (2024) Review: Farhad Ahmed’s Brilliant Execution

Director Farhad Ahmed's crime thriller Criminals, starring Tanzika Amin, Irfan Sajjad, Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, Neel Hurerzahan, Abu Hurayra Tanvir, Anwar Shahi, Basar Bappy, and Shahriar Rana Jewel, was released on Deepto Play on 8th March 2024.

The story revolves around Rusho Rahman (played by Abu Hurayra Tanvir), who owns a financial organization named Double Laav Company, where he promises to double any investment. Like many other locals, Chumki (Rukaiya Jahan Chamak), Neela (Neel Hurerzahan), and Bithi (Tanzika Amin) also fall into the trap of Rusho's scheme and invest a significant amount of money in his organization, only to be cheated by him. Bithi, Neela, and Chumki decide to seek revenge on Rusho with the help of a local goon, Babu Bhai (Irfan Sajjad). Will they succeed in getting back their money?

Director Farhad Ahmed’s execution is praiseworthy. The film sends a strong message to the people of society who dream of getting rich overnight. Farhad Ahmed brilliantly captures the different struggles of the three women, each facing their own problems in life and hoping to solve them by doubling their money, but the result turns out to be unexpected.

Tanzika Amin as Bithi delivers an impressive performance, especially in the emotional scenes where she struggles to arrange money for her daughter’s treatment. Rukaiya Jahan Chamak as Chumki also shines, particularly in the tense scenes featuring her and Abu Hurayra Tanvir. Irfan Sajjad as Babu Bhai impresses with his excellent comic timing and delivery of dialogues.

Neel Hurerzahan convincingly portrays Neela, while Abu Hurayra Tanvir steals the show with his portrayal of a chit-fund company owner, earning well-deserved appreciation. The background score by Menon Khan is another positive aspect of Criminals, which was produced by Shahriar Shakil.
