Ballavpurer Roopkotha (2022) Review: Story, Performances & Analysis:

The movie Ballavpurer Roopkotha centers around King Bhupati Ray (played by Satyam Bhattacharya), who is heavily in debt and decides to sell the Rajbari to repay his creditors, Pawan (Sumanth Roy), Srinath (Surjit Sarkar), and Saha (Kripabindu Chowdhury).

They find a wealthy businessman from Kolkata named Haldar (Sandeep Bhattacharya) who is interested in buying the Rajbari. However, the Rajbari is haunted by the ghosts of Bhupati Ray's ancestors, making it difficult to sell. The story follows Bhupati Ray's struggles to sell the Rajbari.

The movie's sound design and lighting techniques are outstanding and add to the cinematic experience. It's evident that the entire team has put in a lot of effort and research.

Ballavpurer Roopkotha is a rare instance in Bengali cinema where a film has been well-received by a wide audience, even without any big names from the industry. Shyamal Chakraborty steals the show with his remarkable performance. He portrays his character brilliantly throughout the movie. Surangana Bandhopadhyay delivers her best performance to date and looks stunning. Her character takes the audience back to the 1960s.

Satyam Bhattacharya delivers a spectacular performance as King Bhupati Ray. He portrays the king's struggles with authenticity and connects with the audience. Surajit Sarkar, Debraj Bhattacharya, Kripabindu Chowdhury, Sandip Bhattacharya, and Sumanta Roy all support the cast well with their respective characters.

Director Anirban Bhattacharya's storytelling is magical. Even though the story is simple, he keeps the audience engaged with his storytelling and executes the comedy scenes perfectly. With Ballavpurer Roopkotha, he shows his maturity as a director in handling content for family audiences.

The music directors Subhadeep Guha and Debraj Bhattacharya, DOP Soumik Haldar, and editor Sanglap Bhowmik have all done a great job, making the movie a worthy watch.

In conclusion, Ballavpurer Roopkotha, a horror-comedy film directed by Anirban Bhattacharya, based on Badal Sarkar's popular drama, is a masterpiece and a must-watch for everyone.
