Vikram Vedha Hindi Movie Review: Story, Performances & Analysis

The story begins with an encounter scene where a team of Special Task Force (STF) led by Vikram (Saif Ali Khan) shoots several gangsters. However, one of them is unarmed, which could lead to an inquiry if the senior officers find out. To avoid trouble, the team decides to falsely portray him as an armed gangster.

The STF's mission is to eliminate the notorious gangster Vedha (Hrithik Roshan). However, they are unable to capture him, so they start targeting his gang members instead.

To everyone's surprise, Vedha surrenders himself at the police station. He insists on speaking only to Vikram and refuses to cooperate with anyone else.

Vedha convinces Vikram to listen to his story. The narrative shifts to a flashback where Babloo (Sharib Hashmi) teaches children, including Vedha's brother, Young Shatak (Ishan Tripathi), and his friend Chanda (Drashti Bhanushali), how to escape from the police if caught.

Vedha questions Shatak about the nickname "Shatak" and learns that it's because he scored a perfect 100 in Mathematics.

Vedha chooses Vikram's wife Priya (Radhika Apte) to fight his legal case, and he is granted bail. After Vikram's best friend and colleague Abbas (Satyadeep Mishra) dies, they plan another encounter to eliminate Vedha. However, circumstances force Vikram to take Vedha away, and Vedha starts narrating another story.

The story shifts to a grown-up Shatak (Rohit Saraf) trying to protect his elder brother from other gangsters. Chanda (Yogita Bihani), now an adult, provides first aid to Vedha's wounds.

Vedha manages to escape from Vikram once again. Why did Vedha choose Vikram to hear his stories? Why did he select Priya to handle his legal case? Will Vikram be able to shoot Vedha in their next encounter?

"Vikram Vedha" marks Hrithik Roshan's comeback after a three-year gap since his last movie "War," which was a blockbuster hit, grossing Rs. 53.35 crore on its opening day. However, "Vikram Vedha" had a lower opening day box office collection of Rs. 10.50 crore in India.

Despite the lower box office figures, the Hindi remake stands out due to its execution and the brilliant storytelling by directors Pushkar and Gayathri. The performances of Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan are particularly noteworthy, with Hrithik's portrayal of Vedha standing out.

For those familiar with the Tamil movie "Vikram Vedha" starring R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, the Hindi remake offers a similar storyline without adding anything new to the original 2017 film directed by Pushkar and Gayathri.

The background score and songs leave a lasting impression, and a little more focus on Rohit Saraf's character could have enhanced the film. Radhika Apte, Yogita Bihani, Sharib Hashmi, and Satyadeep Mishra deliver decent performances in their respective roles.

Although R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi delivered commendable performances in the original version, the Hindi adaptation benefits from its action sequences, background score, and songs.
