The Ghost Movie Review: Story

The movie begins with an action sequence in East Arabia where we saw an Interpol officer Vikram (Nagarjuna) along with her partner and colleague Priya (Sonal Chauhan) successfully removed a group of terrorists in a camp.

2 action sequences and a song within the first 15 minutes of the movie are enough to tell you that you are going to experience an out-and-out action thriller. Vikram is often haunted by a traumatic past for which he also consults with a psychiatrist. His boss believes that he failed to control his anger most of the time.

One fine day he was invited to meet his sister Anu (Gul Panag) through a phone call. He learned from her that Anu and her daughter Aditi’s (Anikha Surendran) lives are in danger. Vikram is the only one whom she can trust. Will Vikram be able to save their lives? What was Vikram’s traumatic past? Who is the ghost?

Performances & Analysis

The veteran actor Nagarjuna has already featured in more than 100 films and even at the age of 63, he has the charm, energy, and ability to deliver good performances which moviegoers like about him. The Ghost is only his 2nd movie of 2022 after Bangarraju co-starring Ramya Krishna, Naga Chaitanya, and Krithi Shetty.

Apart from the action sequences, Nagarjuna’s screen presence and performance are the only positive sides of the ghost. It’s delicious to see him in those action sequences as well as in the romantic scenes with Sonal Chauhan. Their on-screen chemistry did not last for too long which should have been taken care of by director Praveen Sattaru.

The Ghost was released on the same day as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather while the latter has earned Rs. 91.85 Crore in 8 days worldwide the former has managed just Rs 10.9 Crore worldwide after 8 days.

Though Sonal Chauhan does not have a good screen presence she manages to impress with her performance. She will be also featured in director Om Raut’s upcoming Mythological drama Adipurush starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, and Sunny Singh. Anikha Surendran as Aditi looks convincing.

The start of the movie was good but an accident in the second action sequence impacted the pace of the narrative. As the story progresses it becomes very predictable and lacks twists to keep you engaged. Also, we didn’t see much detail about Nagarjuna’s past, through which director Praveen Sattaru could have added some exciting elements to the story. A few fight sequences were not well executed and the climax was very boring. Gul Panag’s character didn’t receive much focus.

Final Words:

The Ghost is an action thriller that is worth watching only because of the action sequences and the solid performances by Akkineni Nagarjuna, Sonal Chauhan, and Anikha Surendran.
